Police in Bangkok have arrested nine teenagers in connection with a shooting incident under Phra Pok Klao Bridge on the early morning of 5 October, which injured two youths. The suspects, aged between 15 and 20, are linked to three rival youth gangs who gathered to confront perceived enemies but opened fire on a group they did not personally know. Authorities confirmed weapons and other evidence were recovered during raids.

The incident occurred at around 01:00 when police at Phra Ratchawang Station received reports of gunfire injuring two men, sitting under the bridge. Both victims were struck in the legs and taken to Klang Hospital and Taksin Hospital. Police investigations revealed that the shooting involved multiple offenders riding motorcycles in coordinated groups.

The first suspect arrested, Mr Kritsada “Hin” (20), is charged with attempted murder, illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition, carrying a firearm in public without cause and discharging a firearm in a populated area. Officers found his clothes and motorcycle used in the crime. Further arrests included juveniles aged 15–17 who were brought in with their parents, along with additional evidence such as helmets and motorcycles. The ninth suspect, identified as “F,” was the shooter who wounded the second victim.

Police investigation revealed that on the night of 3 October at 22:30, members of three gangs, Pracha Uthit 90, Plang Anusorn, and Wat Yai Rom, gathered at Suk Sawat 2 in response to news that a friend had been attacked with a knife by members of another gang, Bang Khun Non 19. The combined group of 25 youths on 12 motorcycles set out to confront their rivals, but upon reaching Phra Pok Klao Bridge they encountered an unrelated group of youths. Without verifying identities, the suspects fired weapons before fleeing the scene.

Metropolitan Police Commissioner Pol Lt Gen Siam Boonsom confirmed that police will continue to monitor youth gang activities to prevent further violence. The case underscores ongoing concerns about youth crime and gang disputes in Bangkok, and the need for coordinated law enforcement responses to prevent such incidents in the future.

Good to hear parents responsible enough to bring their child into the police station. I do not know what is going on in Thailand with all these gangs though. And why the parents allow their child to go off with a gang of other kids. It is like no one seems to worry or care that their child is doing something bad while out with a gang of other kids.

Very few Thai parents care what their kids do, so sad

Tomorrow TAT will announce a huge surge in tourism.
