A 23-year-old man was arrested after fatally shooting his ex-wife’s new partner inside a parked pickup truck in Sam Chuk District, Suphan Buri, on the evening of 9 October 2025. Police said jealousy and anger drove the suspect to commit the crime after seeing his former spouse with her new boyfriend.

Police investigators, led by Pol Lt Col Pornphat Chiangda of Sam Chuk Police Station, received a report of a shooting at around 20:00, near house number 101/1, Moo 8, Krasiew Subdistrict. Responding officers, including senior provincial police officials and forensic teams, found an Isuzu pickup truck with licence plate from Suphan Buri parked on a village access road.

Inside the passenger seat, officers discovered the body of Mr. Phuriwat Rattanapan, 31, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds from a locally made short-barrelled shotgun. The weapon was fired at close range, striking several vital points.

The suspected gunman, identified as Mr. Kornrit Channum, 23, from Sam Chuk District, fled the scene immediately after the shooting. Police from the provincial investigative unit and the Region 7 investigation team coordinated an intensive manhunt.

Following the suspect’s escape route, officers later located him hiding near the Ban Thueng–Nong Buathong Road in Moo 4, Krasiew Subdistrict. He was arrested without resistance and taken to Sam Chuk Police Station for questioning. During interrogation, Kornrit admitted to the crime, stating that he acted out of jealousy upon finding his ex-wife living with Mr. Phuriwat.

According to his confession, a heated argument broke out when he confronted the couple, leading him to draw his firearm and shoot the victim. He then fled and hid the weapon behind his home before being captured by police.

Authorities have charged Kornrit with murder, unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition and carrying a firearm in public without permission. The case is being investigated further as police prepare to submit evidence to prosecutors.
