Why is Leap 16...the "New Orange"?

Featured Replies

Dear Folks,

Why is Orange the new Black, for LEAP?

I never thought I would live to see the day that a German company would use such a garish color, ORANGE.

What a letdown...

I just hope it is not the FINAL LETDOWN, for me.

image.png.9d3d9814181620d02bf45e9f1498fed6.png

WHO, I ask, is responsible for this disgusting color?

The Swedes, or the Norwegians?

Sure, I realize that ORANGE is a very popular color among Torvald's brothers from Finland.

But, such a disgusting color, that....who can tolerate it....for long???

What a mistake, do you not think?

Some computer nerd, probably, decided on this color.

Sometimes, bad things happen to Free Software, as we can see.

NO TASTES, whatsoever.....

image.png.860dd837e87a69506c1fb74c13db34de.png

Fine for the Norwegian Countries....maybe...but....

Not for the rest of us....

Such a letdown......

Nerds, I say.

Thankfully....there just might be a remedy.....

Best regards,

Gamma

Note:  Please hire someone with class to help with this..... (how expensive can it be???)....

IMPORTANT Note2:

The original color scheme and layout of SUSE, around the year 2000, was, IMHO.....a true work of art.  Just as the Mercedes Benz styling was a work of art, back in the day.

Also, OS/2, back in the day, when it first was released, was a true work of art.....

These days....

HAS ANYBODY HEARD OF .......BEAUTY.....?????

Does ANYONE remember BEAUTY????

Or, for that matter:  Does anyone remember laughter?

Just call me one of the last few aesthetes who recalls a better time when aesthetics seemed important.

Me and Robert Plant..... We knew a thing or two about aesthetics......

But, you really cannot expect computer nerds to understand true BEAUTY.....

I mean.....probably......

ONLY Physicists and Biologists understand TRUE Natural Beauty......and...also....

FRACTALS, and the beauty of same.....

Our world is definitely going downhill, in a handbasket....

For Sure:  The new LEAP 16 color scheme is almost EXACTLY as appealing as the OLD Orange SHAG CARPETS of the late 1960s....

Seems the idiots on GITHUB have actually been debating this lousy color scheme....and....

THIS is the problem with it.

They did NOT hire any qualified design team, or artists, to do the work.

What NUMSKULLS......!!!!!

For example, you can read it here:

https://github.com/openSUSE/branding/issues/135

image.png.085da1a14f05ba88b8ebb485f4cb03d6.png

Nobody can create great art by COMMITTEE, especially since.....

WE DO KNOW THAT COMPUTER NERDS HAVE ....

NO FASHION SENSE.....

How truly ridiculous.

This is one of the most BLATANT failures of OpenSource in the IT Sector.....

Just pure GARBAGE, from an artistic point of view....

(Not to mention an ergonomic perspective, and where is Jobs when we truly need him?)

(The true art critic, in his own mind...)

FAILURE.....

Concerning upgrade from LEAP 15.6 to LEAP 16....

Leap 16 is not finished yet, many have argued.

I will leaave LEAP 16 on my SuperDUPER desktop computer, now that it is installed.....

And just screw around with it, for fun.

However, I will DEFINITELY NOT upgrade my other computers from 15.6.

15.6 is fantastic, and reliable enough to use for all work and play.

Also, 15.6 is now supported for an extra SIX months, which is an extension until end of April 2026.

Therefore, I plan to not upgrade other computers until JUNE of 2026...(provided I/We live that long).

With the new LEAP 16 install on KDE, there seems to exist more graphics problems, and probably CODEC problems, than usual.

Still, it is nice to have LEAP 16 on one computer, because otherwise the daily temptation to install might drive one crazy.

If you don't like the color then change it yourself

I'm sure its easy ! (joking)

myself will be sticking with Debian.

It might not be so easy to change the  chosen DEFAULT branding for LEAP 16, unfortunately.

I will be changing LEAP 16 background to LEAP 15.6, or maybe SUSE 8.1, or something.

Still, I am happy to have the LEAP 16 OS for free.

Beggars cannot be choosers...UNLESS....they are willing to devote their time to the Project.

Having just reinstalled LEAP 16....

I am pleased as Punch.....

image.png.9c51c0499a05bb726252fa0b865b935a.png

a.  SUSE is great.  LEAP 16 is a blessing.

b. My advice is to stick with 15.6, for a few more months, and then upgrade to LEAP 16.

c. I cannot sufficiently express my gratitude to the men and women, THE DEVELOPERS, the geniuses, who have stuck with the SUSE project, during the past several decades.  Truly, SUSE is still the best. And, RH is a Big Joke, in my opinion, compared to SUSE.  (Let's also not get sidetracked here by talking about Big Joke, in case you might know him.)

d.  This is a very major upgrade from 15.6.  And, things are happening fast, concerning the daily progress being made.

e. I have been using linux, SUSE, for so many years.  I would never change, and there is no reason to change.

f.  Some people like Mint.  But, as for me, I will mostly use MINT in my Iced Tea.

g.  By the way, does Mint grow here in Chiang Mai?

=================

Either Leap 15.6, or even Leap 16, is a completely good choice for ditching Windows 11, or Windows, in general.

All I can tell you Folks....

Is to switch to Linux (Leap Preferably)....

And, GET YOURSELF FREE.....

My best advice to you all.....

Get Yourself Free......

You will be Glad.

50 Ways to Leave Windows.....

And, LEAP 16 is just one of the best.....

I will REPEAT myself....

Ditch windows for SUSE, now.....

Get yourselves free.....

Total IDIOCY if you do not....

Concerning the Yellow-Orange-Vomit Branding Login Screen for LEAP 16, I have easily changed it.

And, IMHO, this is a major improvement:

image.png.0ba5bbaa7b32ace2b984c1bce682b333.png

Important NOTE:

There is no reason to update to Windows 11.

Also, Claude Monet's watercolors are to die for.

So says I, .... Van GOON.....

Note2:  Download LEAP 15.6, first.  Then, when you are ready, upgrade to LEAP 16.

Final-Final Note:  I am thinking of buying a HIGH-powered USED ThinkPad, and then....I will just install LEAP 16 on that one, but only for the fun of it.  I rarely use laptops.

Also, just a word to the wise:

When installing LEAP 16....

It is my experience that using WAYLAND might avoid many issues, including graphics issues for mult-monitor setups....

YES, some might say that WAYLAND is experimental, blah, blah....

But, IF you are using INTEL graphics, ....as I, or AMD......

Then, WAYLAND might be the best choice, rather than X11

Hope this helps....because...I wasted a lot of time, during the past 24 hours.....

Until I went with WAYLAND.....

You might beg to differ.

That's up to you.

Differ and Suffer, is what I am saying.

Have a Lot of Fun.....
