Palestinians Search for the dead in Gaza Rubble Amid Ceasefire

Following a recent ceasefire, Palestinians in northern Gaza, including Ghali Khadr, are returning to search for loved ones lost in Israeli airstrikes. Khadr found fragments of his parents' remains and buried them next to intact graves after discovering the family's graveyard in ruins. The daunting task ahead involves locating approximately 10,000 bodies believed trapped under 60 million tonnes of rubble.

Gaza’s civil defense agency, hindered by limited resources and blocked roads, is using basic tools like pickaxes and sledgehammers. Rescuers face additional dangers from unexploded ordnance as they seek to recover bodies, focusing initially on areas accessible by foot. Heavy equipment, if permitted by Israel, could expedite efforts, potentially allowing full recovery within six months to a year.

Residents like Yahya al-Muqra, searching alone for missing relatives, emphasize the urgent need for machinery. He seeks closure for his brother, Sharif, missing since a July airstrike. Families endure the emotional toll of not knowing the fate of loved ones, describing the recovery of remains as a vital step toward honoring their deceased.

What a horrific job to undertake. I hope everyone's family members are found.

Hamas turned Gaza into a graveyard by their actions. Cowards hiding in hospitals using children as human shields.

Links, please. So to kill a few militants, you find it acceptable to destroy hospitals, kill doctors and patients and prevent hundreds from medical care?

That's a pretty warped view of humanity.

You need a link? Really?

You don't watch, read or follow the news?

Kill a few militants? You mean those murderous cowards who behead babies? Then hide in hospitals.

Those mean murderous cowards need to be killed but not by indiscriminate bombing the hospitals. Geneva Convention clearly spelt out that rules of war should not cause incidental loss of civilian life. IDF indiscriminate bombing is a war crime.

Geneva Convention...hahaha.

War crime ...hahaha.

That only applies to the good/western guys doesn't it?

Everyone else can post themselves beheading old ladies on Facebook.
