I am quite sure they are private security guards, probably paid for by the Chabad house themselves .

The security isn't from the Thai Police , its  private security company .

So, its not draining police resources

Stop making things up to suit your pro-Israeli agenda Nick.

  • Australians seem to be a bigger problem of thailand. Theres no israeli posters here posting anti west propaganda like most people here

  • I consider this entire topic yet another malicious transparent effort to insult all Jewish Israeli nationals.

  • This is really bad news. The abuses by the Israelis will mean expats will soon be unable to use such "borderline" methods like Thai nominees and agents for retirement, as the Thais will crack down on

Same. Some don't realize what causes crime is not a particular nationality, creed or race but certain individuals and groups who promote hate, like the KKK did and still does. In Thailand, no matter what happens, 99% of crime is still locals.

Some people are raised to be not prejudicial, and some are, and it shows here.

So in reality the influx of Israelis is actually destroying the fabric and nature of the local way of lif in Pai. Not enhancing it.

I asked AI how many Israelis have settled in Pai permanently.

I am not making things up .

I walked past there numerous times and the guards were dressed in private security firms uniforms .

Looked more like ex army than Police .

We can't tell Thailand what to do. I lived around NYC, which is as multi cultural as any place on earth, and they all get along in a modern world, as hate doesn't last forever, except in individuals.

I am afraid in New York too the presence of Israeli synagogues is placing a burden on local police, as they are routinely targeted for violence.

It's unlikely the hatred for Israeli will get any less, with the latest killing of 20000 children, this hatred for Israel will only increase.

There's a lot of people out there who put a burden on local police.

That's what they're there for. Cops enjoy chasing the bad guys.

I don't think Thai police exist to provide patrolling services for Chabad Houses in Thailand.

Some again, will use any excuse to be prejudiced against a whole culture, when again it's always a select group of miscreants and loonies that cause much of the trouble, and funny, they're usually the ones in power, while the majority of a culture just wants to get by day to day in peace.

Clearly the fear is about what will come, as the Chabad House in Pai will serve as a magnet for further Israeli expats to settle in Pai, as the presence of the Chabad house will be viewed as a marker that this area is particularly friendly towards Israelis. With the building of the Chabad House there we can expect the number of settlers in Pai to go up dramatically. It's already causing a concern for locals.

I think the comparison you made is wrong though, a large population like New York can absorb large ethnic settlements, also from Jews, because there are so many others and New  York is so large. There is a balance between large groups there. however, in small communities like Pai the situation is very different. There, a large influx of Israelis can have devastating and long term effects on local life, as there are not any other sufficiently large population clusters to counterbalance the influence of Israelis settlers there.

Which is the last thing the Pai people want.

It's both, like all synagogues they employ private security measures, but simultaenously request special treatment and protection from local police. Chiang Mai police have provided special protection for the Chabad  house.

Again, it's on Thailand who to allow and money as always overrides everything else. if the local community doesn't want outsiders taking over, it's on them to complain. Israelis will always be a fraction of the population here, just as we are.

In NYC, certain areas have a lot of the same in each area, and if that happens here, it's still okay, as long as the influx isn't committing crimes. Land is just land, and people thinking there should be a certain people there is ludicrous. Just as we are seen here, although we spend more money than the average local, prejudice takes over.

Remember all land was vacant at one time, until certain people took it over. Some still think it's "my" country, when they're just another person living on that soil. Thinking they can stop others who pay their way, and contribute to that economy, are wrong. Just as America allows people from everywhere in, as long as they contribute, because when they don't, things go sideways and the complaints roll in. Why would more Israelis moving in be devastating? What wrong would they do just being there?

Such arrogance.

Indeed, and they have. Unfortunately Anutin has arrogantly dismissed local concerns and made clear Bangkok will do nothing to stem the tide of Israelis flooding into Pai.

I rather think Thai locals in Pai have a right to consider the area as their country.

This topic is supposed to be about some Israelis breaking laws. How would you know how the people in Pai think, unless of course you did a poll in the Pai forum?

Yes, as it's everyone else's that lives there and not a tourist.

One TikTok user, by the name “Kroo ki, wrote that the trouble being caused by Israelis in Pai district is steadily worsening, citing the case of smoking weed in the district hospital and raising the middle finger. Some Israelis also smoke weed in the street and park motorcycles on roads, in defiance of the traffic regulations.

Complaints against the Israelis by locals include the illegal opening of car rental and taxi services, creating loud noises, causing a disturbance, illegal use of public land for commercial purposes, and the presence of a synagogue behind the Pai district police station.

The synagogue has received the most complaints from local Thais for being the gathering place for Israelis, causing a lot of noise.

Four tourists, including two Israelis, who played music at the “Jazz House” pub, owned by an Irishman, were recently deported by the immigration police for working illegally in Thailand.

According to the World Update web page, as many as 30,000 Israelis are heading towards Pai district for long stay, with the support of the ‘Chabad’ movement.

According to the Pai district’s census, about 30,000 Israelis are staying there, including about 3,000 permanent stayers, while the number of locals is about 21,000.

So Chabad, an organization which raises TWO BILLION USD annually, is actively encouraging Israelis to move to Pai.

Anutin, as usual, dropped the ball.

Partciularly puzzling as Thai association with Israel has already caused the deaths of Thai people, we all remember the many Thai victims who died in Israel.

Didn't you follow the news when the story broke earlier this year ?

The 30 000 figure was for Israelis visiting Pai over the course of the year and most just stayed for  few days .

It wasn't 30 000 Israelis living in Pai permanently

No, the Chabad isn't encouraging anything

If you read the sentence carefully it says "including about 3000 permanet stayers", so it said there were 3000 Israelis who settled there.

However, clearly the fear in Pai is about what willl happen in the future, as Chabad, with its near unlimited resources of 2 billion USD annually, is actively promoting Pai as a destination for Israelis to live.

Yes, they are. They are on a drive to establish Chabad houses in Thailand, there are now 9 Chabad houses in Thailand alone, and of course, they need Israelis to come there to fund these "missionary outposts".

Currently, nine Chabad rabbis and several rabbinical students on internships are on hand to assist both residents and transients in all their Jewish needs and wants.

Besides answering to the social and spiritual requirements of a small but vibrant local Jewish community, Chabad of Thailand provides visiting Jews with a home away from home and with sanctuaries of authentic Jewish spirituality.

That doesn't show Chabad's are encouraging Israelis to go and live in Pai .

Chabad have embarked on an incredibly well organized and well funded drive to open Chabad houses in Thailand. This is also the cause of the problems in Ko Phangan, where Chabad have also recently established a Chabad House. The large influx of Israelis in Pai and Ko Phangan is a direct result of Chabad and othe religious groups promoting the establishment of these Chabad houses.

It's not so much Chabad actually, as individual Jewish groups, who approach Chabad with their idea to open a Chabad house in , say, Pai, and Chabad, who has an Admin and Logistics Rabbi overseeing all of Thailand, then get involved and provde massive funding for the establishment of a jewish centre, ie a Chabad house in the chosen location. Chabad have near endless resources, as they raise 2 billion USD annually.

Their vision is a "Jewish Thailand", a place where Jews can get all the comforts of home, jewish spiritual life, jewish food, and so forth, whilst serving as a recuperation hub for IDF soldiers.

It goes without saying, that this is to the detriment of local Thai people, and Thai culture, as well as local traditions and way of life.
