The fact that they are jews is enough for some.

  • Australians seem to be a bigger problem of thailand. Theres no israeli posters here posting anti west propaganda like most people here

  • I consider this entire topic yet another malicious transparent effort to insult all Jewish Israeli nationals.

  • This is really bad news. The abuses by the Israelis will mean expats will soon be unable to use such "borderline" methods like Thai nominees and agents for retirement, as the Thais will crack down on

You can't answer for the Thais. and there are thousands of places you can go if Israelis bother you. What are any specific Israelis doing that's hurting any expats here, let alone the Thais, as it's their deal anyway what they want to do about it? Thinking Bangkok or anything else is caring enough to do something as long as money comes in is naive. It's definitely prejudiced thinking, the same with the Russians, Brits, Aussies, Americans, Chinese, Koreans, Cambodians and all others. You have to sit back and ask yourself just why they're bothering you personally. Them, and not any other people. They aren't doing anything to affect us as expats, and the locals, if they want them gone, they'll have to complain to a non listening government who's agenda is tourism, and money from it.

It's not that Israelis bother me. It bothers me to see other nations taking over small defensless communities in Asia. I've seen this with Lake Toba in Indonesia where the Chinese have turned a major Indonesian landmark into a jet-ski playground for Chinese and it looks Pai is being turned into an Israeli playground for IDF soldiers as we speak.

Again, when I go these places I want to see the real local culture, not a Chinese, Israeli, Nigerian or other expat ghetto that's taken over local life.

They all bother me equally. It's not a Jewish thing.

Out of 28 UN states that don't recognize Israel, 25 are Muslim-majority, and at least 16 enforce passport bans. This stems from the 1948 Arab-Israeli War, UN Partition Plan opposition, and ongoing Palestinian issues—views echoed in non-Western sources like Iran's IRNA (calling it "anti-Zionist unity") and Russian RT (highlighting Global South resistance). Western media (e.g., BBC) notes evolving exceptions via Abraham Accords (UAE, Bahrain normalized in 2020), but core holdouts remain firm. No recent changes as of October 2025; enforcement varies at borders, sometimes leading to detentions.

Your list contains Muslim countries only.

@fredwiggy Why all the waffle about something that you claim to not have experienced personally? We have...so are in a position to tell about our experiences and how they affected us. Whilst you are waffling on about nothing at all. Just abstract theory. Do you have any actual experience of Israelis in Thailand?

Please don't reply with another long winded post containing no facts at all. Thank you for your attention on this matter.

How much does the Catholic Church rake in.

Yes, but the Catholic church is not funding cultural "oasis" projects for Catholics that cater to one specific nation and take over whole communities, like Chabad is doing in Pai.

Chabad is like a franchise. They are attracting large numbers of jews, who flock to these centres. They are incredibly successful at expanding their franchise, invariably at a cost to the locals.

That's why you find other places where the existing culture is strong. Thais will always outnumber all other nations here.

Like St. Louis Cathedral in Bangkok. Soi Convent. And they convert too. Dude, just admit you are a jew hater, you should be proud of what you spout.

6 pages and I'm still wondering why anyone here would be affected by this. Take away prejudice and what do you have? Israelis are everywhere, and I'm guessing most regular ones aren't causing any problems where they live. In NYC, millions visit their delis for sandwiches and food, and no one cares that they're there as they fit in. Law breakers come in all nationalities, races and creeds.

Realistically the same could be said of any thread that discusses countries outside of the European, British, and American spheres.  How often do we get a thread about tourists from India, Africa, China, the Middle East, Malaysia, Indonesia and a host of other non-Western, non-Judaeo-Christian countries.  Expats here just love to chat about others who don't come from their own counties.

Comparing the Chinese and the Israelis (in this specific context) — that’s a bit of a stretch, isn’t it?

Samui used to be a paradise. Everything on trust. Hardly even needed money in your pocket. Israelis took advantage of that and ruined it for everyone. That @fredwiggy is an example of how they've affected expats.

Almost all religions proselytize. Nothing new under the sun.

I've been to many large cities where all nations coexist. Again the question is, why would a particular race, creed or nationality bother anyone personally? Why answer, guess, how others feel about things unless it's a majority rule that wants that particular entity out, as they feel they're somehow ruining things? If anyone here actually lives in Pai, then they can say how it''s affecting them personally.

I have experience with Israelis in those cities I lived near, worked in or visited often. Why would it be any different if they aren't actually somehow ruining the local culture? If they are, then I would like to see that evidence. Other than that, it all seems like prejudice, which is more obvious with other topic's posts. PS; I don't waffle, so choose a better word.

Yeah, but that's in Bangkok. They're not going to take over Bangkok and change the fabric of society in Bangkok. The place is too large for one Church to have that effect. That's why I don't have a huge problem with Chabad in BKK or even CM.

But in Pai, they can literally destroy the local flair, the fabric of life, if they turn the place into a "Jewish Oasis". Particularly because Chabad is richer than most countries and makes 2 billion USD a year.

So Samui is overrun with Israelis taking advantage of expats? Never heard that before. The more people populate any place, especially a small island, the less trust happens.

So what do they do with the 2 billion USD they raise every year?

Not at all. Have you been to Lake Toba? It's a total Chinese dominated area, massive ugly villas built overlooking Lake Toba, Chinese Jet ski outlets and Chinese jettting across Lake Toba. This used to be an important ancestral homeland to the Toba people. Now it's a Chinese Disneyworld.

And Chabad is funded just as well, probably much better than the Chinese are in Lake Toba, to the tune of 2 billion USD a year. How long before Pai is turned into the "Jewish Thailand", the "Jewish Oasis" Chabad want to create there?

Same as Lake Toba, or Cambodia for the Chinese. Same same.

So no experience @fredwiggy just random waffle. Come back when you actually have some experience. Unlike most here, I've actually visited the place they call Israel.

Not at all.  From your perspective, my guess, is that you believe Israelis to be special.  From my perspective they are just another one of the 193 countries in the world.  Israel is just another country.

More like hummus and Yemenite chicken soup.

With so many nations denying Israel's right to even exist, that doesn't come off as just another.

Thats for the folks in Pai, not you.

You mean the country. Or the town in Texas?

1 minute ago, Yagoda said:

Apparently not, because the locals wanted it to stop and appealed to Bangkok, but the Shinawatra lady told them "we dont' care, you're talking nonsense". A short PR trip by Anutin predicatably also had him saying "no action required".

The locals want this to stop. But Bangkok won't help. Which is the typical hands-off approach to the North everyone in CM will tell you about.

Until the Russians got there and made it all better.

Israelis have been visiting the country for many decades. Why do you think something like this would happen now? Or is it just another scare story — part of the recent wave of anti-Israeli hysteria?

I mentioned my experience, which is more than some who are complaining about Israelis that aren't somehow affecting them, so my comment stands.

You talked about Samui, and it meant nothing, as trust going down isn't because of the Israelis but a larger population, which means more criminals of all types that bring about that lack of trust. That same thing happens everywhere. Visiting Israel is seeing mostly Israelis, and you can't comment on what they're doing there as it's their country.

This is Thailand, and this topic is about some Israelis breaking laws, and some have taken that to blaming them for taking over an area, which again, has nothing to do with Israel.

well, since you did not call me a racist pig .......I will admit that i am not up to date on Jewish cuisine.

I do have fond memories, however.... of my grandmother's Matzoh ball soup .
