A boat towing barges, sank in the Pa Sak River in Ayutthaya, leaving a seven-month-pregnant woman missing and prompting an urgent search by rescue teams. The incident occurred near the Chia Tai Company pier in Pak Chan Subdistrict, Nakhon Luang District, where divers were deployed to locate the missing woman.

Police and rescue workers responded after receiving a report from Pol Lt Rung Panya, deputy investigation officer at Nakhon Luang Police Station, on 14 October. Upon arrival, they found the sunken boat in the middle of the river. The team secured the vessel with ropes and coordinated with five other boats to pull it closer to the riverbank, allowing temporary passage for other vessels. Divers from the Phutthaisawan Foundation began search operations for the missing 21-year-old woman, who was seven months pregnant.

According to her husband, 24-year-old boat operator Sirawut Phobangwai, he was steering the last boat in a convoy of six that was towing three barges loaded with ore from Wat Phananchoeng Pier to Jumbo Pier. He said the vessel lost balance and stability near the incident site, causing it to tilt and capsize suddenly. He managed to jump clear, but his wife, who was on board, was unable to escape before being swept away by the strong current.

Rescue officials have continued diving operations in the river, throughout the night, though visibility and currents have made the search difficult. Authorities have also coordinated with local agencies to assist in the recovery efforts and maintain safe navigation in the area while the sunken vessel is stabilised.
