The Immigration Bureau Division 3 has arrested two Chinese nationals wanted in their home country on criminal charges, following coordinated operations in Samut Prakan and Chonburi provinces. The arrests were made on October 16 after senior immigration officers ordered intensified surveillance of foreign fugitives believed to be hiding in Thailand.

According to Pol. Lt. Gen. Panumas Boonyaluck, Commissioner of the Immigration Bureau, and Pol. Maj. Gen. Songprod Sirisukha, Commander of Immigration Division 3, the operations were executed by teams from the Immigration Investigation Sub-Division, Samut Prakan Immigration, and Chonburi Immigration offices. The effort was part of a wider crackdown on foreigners using Thailand as a refuge to evade criminal prosecution abroad.

The first suspect, identified as Mr. Xung, was apprehended in Samut Prakan. He was wanted in China for soliciting bribes from construction contractors while employed by a construction firm between 2017 and 2019. Chinese authorities allege he received over 800,000 yuan (approximately 3.6 million baht) in payments disguised as “technical service fees” and “procurement assistance fees.” He reportedly fled to Thailand several months ago, frequently changing his accommodation across central provinces to avoid detection.

The second suspect, Mr. Li, aged 56, was arrested in Chonburi by a joint task force led by Pol. Col. Napasphong Khositsuriyamanee, Superintendent of Chonburi Immigration. He was wanted by the Ministry of Public Security in Songjiang District, Shanghai, on fraud-related charges. Following the Chinese government’s alert, Thai authorities located and detained him for further legal processing.

Pol. Maj. Gen. Songprod explained that both suspects entered Thailand legally before official arrest warrants were recorded in Interpol’s system, meaning their entry was not initially restricted. However, once Chinese authorities issued updated requests through formal diplomatic channels, Thai immigration investigators were instructed to track and apprehend them.

He added that the Immigration Bureau is strengthening cooperation with international law enforcement agencies to identify and remove foreign nationals engaged in criminal activities or attempting to “launder” their identities in Thailand. Officers have been ordered to verify the backgrounds of foreigners, even if they enter as tourists and to take action under the Immigration Act and related laws when offences are discovered.

The two Chinese suspects are now in custody pending deportation proceedings and coordination with Chinese authorities for extradition.

It's a revolving door....

"Buy one, get one free" scheme?

So Interpol notices really work. The scarlet bovine benefactor will be shaking in his shoes.
