Chiang Mai provincial police have dismantled an online gambling network operating under the name Wealth888 and arrested a 27-year-old man from Songkhla who managed the site’s computer systems. The raid, carried out on 17 October, uncovered extensive electronic evidence linking the suspect to a large-scale illegal betting operation.

Police Major General Yutthana Kaenchan, commander of Chiang Mai Provincial Police, led the operation alongside officers from the Cybercrime Suppression Division. Acting on a tip-off that a group was running an online gambling platform from Fang district, investigators gathered evidence and secured a search warrant from the Fang Provincial Court before raiding a house in Moo 5, Wiang subdistrict.

Inside the property, officers found Mr. Swiss, 27, from Songkhla, who admitted to living there. The search uncovered 25 electronic devices, including mobile phones and laptop computers, connected to the backend system of Wealth888. Police determined that the website had over 10,000 registered users engaging in activities such as football betting, slot games and other forms of online gambling.

Investigators estimated that the site had a monthly cash flow exceeding 5 million baht. Officers also seized 1.4 million baht in cash, along with gold bars and gold jewellery believed to be linked to the proceeds of illegal activity.

The suspect reportedly confessed to being hired by a financier to maintain the website’s system, stating that he had been performing the role for several months. He was charged with organising or promoting unauthorised online gambling and money laundering, in violation of anti-gambling and financial crime laws.

Following questioning, the suspect and seized evidence were transferred to Fang Police Station for further legal proceedings. Police said they are now tracing financial transactions and identifying other members of the gambling network believed to be operating in several provinces.
