Police apprehended approximately 10 teenagers and confiscated three motorcycles following an illegal street race in Pattaya early Sunday. Authorities intervened on Sukhumvit–Pattaya Road in tambon Nong Prue after receiving noise and safety complaints from residents. The raid occurred around 2 a.m. as officers sought to address public concerns about the dangerous activity.

The illegal race involved about 20 motorcycles with participants aged 14 to 19. Most racers managed to escape when the police arrived, but around 10 were captured. Officers recorded their details and contacted their parents, emphasizing the need for corrective action.

Three motorcycles were seized during the crackdown, serving as evidence of the unlawful event. Police actions aim to curb such gatherings, which have previously disturbed the local community's peace and posed risks to public safety. The incident highlights ongoing challenges in managing youth delinquency and maintaining order in the tourist city.

Moving forward, local authorities may implement more frequent patrols and enhanced monitoring in the area to deter future occurrences. Community engagement and parental involvement are also seen as crucial for addressing the root causes of such behavior and preventing recurrence.

Key Takeaways

  • Ten teenagers were arrested, and three motorcycles were seized.
  • The race involved participants between 14 and 19 years old.
  • Police responded to community complaints about noise and safety risks.

Out of 20, that is great policing, if you do not want to stop it.

If the parents were any good at parenting they wouldn't be out racing in the first place?

Thai teenage boys are notorious for going to sleep at school, if they went to bed at a reasonable time this wouldn't happen. Thai parents are very bad too, in my family I have Thai Chinese on one side and Thais from isarn on the other side, you wouldn'r believe the diffence. As for the Arab louts take them back to Soi 12 and give the a decent slapping, then off to Suvanabhumi and bye bye and don't bother coming back, as we have more than enough of you're types so we don't need any more.

Right, it's too late now. confiscate their bikes and crush them. That should teach them.

I just don't see that happening... mummy needs it to get to her market stall.  We get it where I live too on Hwy 36, some bigger bikes there as well as on the Sukhumvit nearby.

Have to agree on this one... crush them

I’m glad that they “may” consider patrolling the areas more. What a joke.

Perhaps you want to live in a  place where there are arbitrary  seizures. If the police do not see the wrongdoing, or if the drivers  have not committed a wrongdoing, then their motorbike cannot be seized.

oh come on mate... how many 14-19 years old do you think are licensed to drive? In my country any who did not have driving permits and legal vehicles would have been taken to the station until mummy or daddy came to collect them. And all the vehicles impounded until such time as to show they were legal and drivers with licenses collecting them.

The police only crackdown because of complaints. Forget about their job to enforce laws and apprehending them. 3 bikes impounded is nothing. Parents also should be held responsible... Oh sorry (thai parents responsible? What was i thinking)

Good. The police need to do more to stop accidents out here. People drive like maniacs, especially on motorbikes.

I do see your point but in this specific incident that wasn't the case. Your answer might be all woke and PC, but the problem is no better than letting children carry and use a gun. The problem exist because of attitude than someone has to be hurt or die before something is done. The rights of these kids are more important than the rights of others. Your view doesn't hold water where you came and it doesn't hold water here.
