A 62-year-old security guard was fatally stabbed after intervening in a violent dispute between two truck drivers at a warehouse complex in Bangkok’s Lat Krabang district. The victim, identified as Mr. Suphat Phothong from Surin province, was attempting to stop the altercation when he was attacked and killed at his post inside the Inland Container Depot (ICD) compound.

 

Police from Lat Krabang station were called to the scene after receiving a report of a fatal stabbing around 23:00 on October 21. Upon arrival, officers found Mr. Suphat lying face up in a pool of blood near the guard post opposite Gate 6 of the warehouse facility. He was wearing a blue polo shirt and dark trousers, with visible stab and slash wounds to his head and right shoulder.

 

At the scene, investigators recovered two knives, a grass-cutting blade believed to belong to the victim and a machete used by the attacker. Forensic officers collected both weapons as evidence. Police also summoned forensic experts and a medical examiner from the Police General Hospital, together with volunteers from the Poh Teck Tung Foundation, to assist in the investigation and body removal.

 

Preliminary findings indicate that the argument began when two truck drivers engaged in a heated dispute within the warehouse area. Mr. Suphat, who was on duty at the time, attempted to intervene and calm the situation. However, one of the drivers allegedly produced the machete and attacked him, inflicting fatal wounds before fleeing the scene.

 

According to police reports, the suspect has since been arrested by Lat Krabang police officers. He is being questioned at the police station and is expected to be charged with murder. Investigators are currently reviewing CCTV footage and witness statements to establish a full account of the incident. The suspect will remain in police custody while formal charges are prepared. Once questioning is complete, he will be handed over to investigators at Lat Krabang Police Station for prosecution.
