Hi guys.

I lived in CM for 8 years on a retirement visa, I am now back in NZ, returning as a tourist for a month each year. So, I am wondering how things stand with my bank account with Bangkok bank.

I still have around 100,000 thb in there. I plan on returning for good in a few years , so want to keep it open and maybe start adding some savings to it. Im not sure how I stand though, now that I have no type of visa. Can I legally even have a bank account?  Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thank you.

You need to do one "user generated" transaction per year to keep an account open.  (Service charges and interest credits don't count). Out of an abundance of caution, I try to do one every six months. The bank doesn't know your visa has expired; you should be OK.
