A Mercedes-Benz caught fire and was destroyed in Hua Hin, causing damage estimated at around three million baht. The incident occurred on the southbound Phetkasem Road, in front of a Bangchak petrol station within Hua Hin Municipality, prompting a swift response from police and firefighters.

At around 16:20 on 23 October 2025, Hua Hin Police received an emergency call via the 191 centre reporting a vehicle fire. Two fire engines from Hua Hin Municipality were dispatched to the scene, where they found a white Mercedes-Benz GLC43 engulfed in flames. Thick black smoke billowed across the road, forcing officers to temporarily close traffic lanes while firefighters battled the blaze amid intermittent explosions.

It took approximately 30 minutes to bring the fire under control. By then, the car was destroyed, with all interior items burnt beyond recovery. Officials estimated the total damage at no less than three million baht.

Initial investigations revealed the vehicle belonged to an American national travelling with a companion. The pair were driving from Cha-Am towards central Hua Hin when they noticed smoke coming from under the bonnet. They immediately pulled over and exited the car before flames spread. A petrol station attendant witnessed the incident and attempted to extinguish the fire with a portable extinguisher, but the flames grew too quickly before fire crews arrived.

Authorities are now conducting a detailed investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire. Preliminary findings suggest a possible electrical malfunction within the vehicle’s system. Police cordoned off the area for forensic examination and are coordinating with insurance representatives.

Good thing his car has insurance. HE should get a replacement car fairly quick if the insurance company finishes the paperwork. My guess is he has number 1 insurance for the Merc. They will replace it.

let me guess, the driver was vaping furiously and his/her e-cig exploded...
