Three Myanmar nationals were killed and 35 others injured when a pickup truck carrying illegal migrant workers overturned in Kanchanaburi’s Sai Yok district. Several others fled into nearby forest areas following the crash, prompting a large-scale manhunt by security forces.

 

The crash occurred at around 09:30 on 25 October 2025 along Highway 323 between Sangkhlaburi and Kanchanaburi, in Moo 9, Lum Sum subdistrict. Police from Sai Yok Station, medical teams, and rescue workers from the Pitakkarn Foundation arrived at the scene to find a severely damaged silver Nissan Navara with Bangkok registration, overturned beside the road.

 

Emergency personnel reported 35 people injured, 25 men and 10 women and three dead at the scene. All victims were identified as Myanmar migrant workers believed to be entering Thailand illegally to seek employment. The injured were rushed to nearby hospitals for urgent treatment.

 

CCTV footage captured the moment of the accident, showing the pickup truck speeding before its left rear wheel detached, causing the vehicle driver to lose control, cross into the opposite lane and overturn. The enclosed compartment carrying the migrants was torn apart by the impact, throwing passengers across the roadside.

 

Local witnesses told police that the driver and about ten passengers fled into the surrounding forest immediately after the crash. Security forces and local authorities coordinated a search and managed to apprehend seven individuals, while others remain at large.

 

Preliminary investigations suggest the vehicle was being used to smuggle workers from the border area of Thong Pha Phum into inner provinces. Police are now expanding the investigation to identify the driver and the broader trafficking network responsible for the illegal transport operation.

If they paid Thai workers properly this would stop, jail the perps that employ them and give life without parole to the ones that kill them to get rid of evidence (fishing boat owners)
