The Roi Et Municipal Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Centre received a report, on 25 October 2025 at 07:30, of a cat trapped in a metal drain grate in front of the Roi Et Pawnshop. Officers quickly arrived on site to assess the situation and attempted to free the cat, which was crying continuously.

The cat, black and white in colour, had its head caught in a narrow opening of the thick metal grate, making immediate extraction difficult. Despite initial efforts, officers were unable to remove the cat safely at the roadside.

Officials, led by Veerachai Phadungkij and Phumin Thipyaboon, decided to lift the grate along with the cat and transport it to the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Centre on Tesaphiban Road. The centre was equipped with the necessary rescue tools and materials to carry out the removal safely.

At the centre, personnel evaluated the situation and used hydraulic cutting and spreading equipment to free the cat’s head from the grate. The operation took approximately 30 minutes, after which the cat was successfully released. It was later returned to the natural home environment.

The successful rescue reflects the municipality’s commitment to public welfare under Mayor Banchong Khositchiranan, ensuring rapid response to both human and animal emergencies.

It defo looks like Chinese, but I believe it is Japanese.  It says "Yashio Fire Department"  Yashio is a suburb of Tokyo.  Still don't know why this guy would have that helmet, unless it was bought from a toy shop...

Bravo to the Thais that made such an effort to save the cat.   Meeeeooooow !
