A fishing boat captain was fatally stabbed today, October 27, in the Gulf of Mae Klong near Samut Songkhram province. Emergency responders recovered the body of the captain, identified as Porntep, after reports of an assault at sea. He was found with a fatal stab wound to the chest, delivered by a fruit-paring knife, and his body was transported to Somdet Phra Phutthaloetla Hospital for an initial autopsy.

The vessel, carrying two other crew members, was brought back for examination while the crew, 55-year-old Sunthorn and 35-year-old Chanlin, were questioned by police. Sunthorn described an argument leading to Porntep's alleged accidental fall onto the knife. However, authorities remain skeptical of this account, considering the incident suspicious and indicating the possibility of foul play.

Police are continuing their inquiries, focusing on the crew to establish the circumstances surrounding the captain's death. This case comes amid another recent stabbing in Bang Na, where a teenager allegedly attacked a colleague after enduring workplace bullying. The juxtaposition of these incidents underlines ongoing concerns about violence and conflict resolution both at sea and in workplaces.

As the investigation unfolds, police are treating the captain's death as suspicious, searching for evidence to better understand the events on the fishing boat. The questioning of the two crew members remains crucial, as authorities aim to verify their stories and determine if foul play was involved.
