All previous chiefs at the Pentagon were soldiers. What are you on about?

Current nato boss is a weak historian who fked over Netherlands to get to that job, while a chick used to run the ministry of defense position... Now some other dickhead. Neither of them even did the basic training.

Not at all.  A morale booster Get with the program or get the F—-out.   The days of worrying about hurting someone’s feelings are over.   Such a welcome relief from the WOKE, DEI

  • Interesting.....a well established theory suggests that a fear of beards stems from having been "orally abused" as child?

Disrespecting service members who are in compliance with regulations? In the Trump administration personal whims take priority over laws and regs.

To be fair the Netherlands is seriously effed up, they gave us Ayan Hirsi Ali as some sort of serious political voice, a lying Somali woman.

She doesn't have a beard, but I still wouldn't hire her to run a juice stand.

Recruitment is at record highs. Military is rebuilding again. DEI has been scrapped. Nothing I've seen to show that the Department of War is being run poorly. If you have some evidence to show counter to this please share it.

Military Met 2024 Recruit Contracting Goals, Plans for Repeat

https://www.war.gov/News/News-Stories/Article/article/4151948/military-met-2024-recruit-contracting-goals-plans-for-repeat/

The rise in recruitment began during the Biden Presidency. Maybe improved pay and working conditions had something to do with that?, Also, historically there is a direct inverse inverse correlation betweeen a weakening labor market and military recruitment

It's clear you don't see any important difference between being an artillery colonel and then a failed haberdasher and running a country. You should try studying American history

A blatant and sad deflection.

The Army and Navy met this years projected recruitment numbers in June. This is about a revitalized military and patriotism not the labour market.

Yet absolutely true and appropriate. Thes why you felt the need for another, whining, loser-sour-grapes response.

It's clear you don't have a clue about what constitutes evidence. Rah-rha-rah is not evidence.

These are links to what constitutes evidence. You'll note that the first article linked to is from the DOD

You have the nerve to give me Dick Cheney as an example? The guy was a total disaster!

McNamara was a soldier!

You're the party who claimed that all DOD chiefs were soldiers not me. There may well have been others. I couldn't bother to check.

But you're right about McNamara. I was wrong. You might try once in a while to quote that small 3 word phrase when you are called out on your errors.

Says the guy who just posted Robert McNamara was not a soldier.

But fair enough, there were some non-soldiers as well.

Dick Cheney however serves as an example of what we don't want.

Cheney had precisely ZERO qualifications for anything.

Projected recruitment goals for 2025 include:

  • Army aiming for 61,000 recruits. A goal it met in June 2025.
  • Navy targeting 40,600 recruits. A goal it met in June 2025.
  • Marine Corps is trying to enlist approximately 32,000 recruits.
  • Air Force is focusing on enlisting 32,500 recruits.
  • Space Force is trying to enlist 800 recruits.

Coast Guard, with its smaller force, expecting approximately 4,300 new members. Officials believe they will make their goal as they have recruited 4,250 recruits as of May 2025.

And what's your point? That it achieved these goals before Oct 1. How does this in any way contradict the observation that recruitment is stronger when the labor market is weaker?

You wanted evidence. I've given it to you. Recruitment is now going strong. Not a sign of a department run by someone who doesn't know what he's doing as you say of Hesgeth. As for the labour market, unemployment is around the same for this time last year. There's no doubt that a weak job market can see an increase in enlistment but do you honestly think this accounts for the spike seen this year? As I posted the army and navy have seen their projected enrolment numbers for this year reached by June four months early. Just because someone is unemployed doesn't automatically mean they'll be signing up. As I said a revitalisation of the armed forces, getting rid of DEI and patriotism IMO has a lot to do with it.

Lol! Targets have also been reached before the end of year in 2024.

Actually the articles are showing that recruitment targets are set by fiscal year, not calendar year, so it's not surprising that they may be reached before the end of September. In this case, recruitments for FY 2025 also include recruitments made by the Biden administration from October 2024 to January 2025.

In 2024, targets have been reached and even surpassed in September 2024.

Army hits recruiting target for the first time in 2 years

https://www.armytimes.com/news/your-army/2024/09/26/army-hits-recruiting-target-for-the-first-time-in-2-years/

Also 11,000 extra recruitments made by September for the FY 2025 entry program (so included in the FY 2025 numbers you touted).

Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth won’t meet with any “beardos” serving in South Korea.
Service members stationed in the Pacific recently received notice that enlistees with shaving waivers will not be allowed to attend Hegseth’s upcoming Camp Humphreys rally, according to military site Task & Purpose.

https://archive.ph/50aUq#selection-1613.0-1625.44

Well, that's one way to lower morale.

Personally, if I were informed that I was excused attendance at such an event my morale would improve no end! "Chuffed to NAAFI break" in fact!

Hegseth's military awards include two Bronze Star Medals, the Joint Commendation Medal

The bronze stars didn't have the "V" for valor, thus -- while they sound impressive -- were awarded as an end of tour medal, which is very common when you leave a job from a combat theater, but not for anything of merit related to combat -- and you didn't excessively screw up.

The Joint Commendation Medal is the poor cousin to the Joint Meritorious Service Medal. I got a JMSM for just being competent in my joint job. The JCM is given -- when you rotate out -- for just not calling in sick too many days.

Hegseth also got the National Defense Ribbon for raising his right hand. Pretty impressive dude, no?

Perhaps you could explain what you mean as US military regulations do not permit beards?

Maybe you just need to dig a little deeper, not all US military has to shave.

Perhaps you need to.   Apart from a few exemptions, beards generally are not permitted.

Hegseth has tattoos all the way from the shoulder to the wrist, on his right arm (and probably many other places). This means Hegseth, if ordered to show up in formation, wearing the summer open collared, short sleeved blue uniform shirt -- would be disallowed (just as if he showed up with a beard).

He's not a member of the military.    Who's going to "order him to show up in formation", for god's sake?
