A domestic dispute in Bangkok’s Bang Khae district ended in murder when a drunken Myanmar man fatally stabbed his wife in the neck in front of their three children after becoming angry over a missing pestle. Police arrested the suspect at the scene, where he confessed to the crime, claiming he acted in a fit of rage.

The incident occurred late on 30 October at a two-storey wooden and concrete rental house located at 11/1–3 Soi Phetkasem 67, Soi 3, Lak Song Subdistrict, Bang Khae. Police Lieutenant Colonel Kamles Phusukho, Deputy Investigation Chief of Phetkasem Police Station, led the response along with Superintendent Police Colonel Pramote Chanboonkaew, forensic officers and medical staff from Siriraj Hospital. Upon arrival, officers found the body of 35-year-old Naw Nu Wa, a Myanmar national, lying face up on a mattress surrounded by blood. She had a single stab wound to the neck. Nearby, investigators found a 20-centimetre kitchen knife, a mortar and pestle and other cooking utensils on the floor.

The suspect, identified as 30-year-old Kyaw Kyaw Aye, also from Myanmar, was reportedly intoxicated at the time. He admitted to stabbing his wife during an argument after he could not find the kitchen pestle while she was having dinner with their children. Enraged, he grabbed a knife and stabbed her before throwing the weapon aside.

Witness accounts revealed that the couple lived with three daughters, two from the wife’s previous relationship, aged 20 and 12 and one 5-year-old child they had together. At around 20:00, the suspect returned home from work and joined the family as they were eating. The argument quickly escalated, leading to the fatal stabbing in front of all three children. The victim attempted to flee to seek help from relatives but collapsed and died at the scene.

Police charged Kyaw Kyaw Aye with murder. He remains in custody at Phetkasem Police Station while the case proceeds to the investigation phase. The victim’s body was sent to the Department of Forensic Medicine at Siriraj Hospital for autopsy before being released to relatives for religious rites.
