Porn Choking Ban: UK To Outlaw Strangulation In Online Content

Online pornography showing choking, strangulation, or suffocation will soon be banned in the UK, under new government plans aimed at curbing violence against women and girls.

The crackdown follows a review which found such acts were “rife” on mainstream porn sites and had helped normalise dangerous sexual behaviour among young people. The reforms will make both the publication and possession of such material criminal offences under amendments to the Crime and Policing Bill, now before Parliament.

Platforms will also be legally required to detect and remove strangulation content or face sanctions from Ofcom. The Department for Science, Innovation and Technology said the change would make depictions of choking a “priority offence” under the Online Safety Act, placing it in the same tier as child sexual abuse and terrorism content.

Technology Secretary Liz Kendall called the new rules a vital move to protect women:

“Viewing and sharing this kind of material online is not only deeply distressing — it is vile and dangerous. Those who post or promote it are contributing to a culture of violence that has no place in our society.”

The change follows warnings from Conservative peer Baroness Bertin, whose review revealed how teenage boys were learning choking from porn and asking teachers how to perform it. Advocates said the law marks a long-overdue recognition that “there is no such thing as safe strangulation.”

Bernie Ryan of the Institute for Addressing Strangulation said the move will help counter harmful messages about intimacy, while Andrea Simon of the End Violence Against Women Coalition hailed it as “a vital step” toward challenging porn-fuelled violence.

But campaigner Fiona Mackenzie, founder of We Can’t Consent To This, cautioned that similar bans already exist under the Criminal Justice and Immigration Act 2008 and are rarely enforced. “Until we see otherwise,” she said, “I don’t believe any new law will actually be enforced.”

Key Takeaways

  • Depictions of choking or strangulation in porn to be banned under new UK law.

  • Offences will include publishing or possessing such content; sites face Ofcom penalties for failing to remove it.

  • Critics warn existing anti-violence laws already cover this, but are not enforced.

Well, BBC is the source

Notice how the Mary Whitehouse  Board Of Film Classification

want to become relevant again..I wonder if there will be a revival

of "naughty" satellite channels   like the old days   Filmnet,TV1000,RedHot Dutch  and a slew of later ones..I remember that even the French national broadcaster  showed a hardcore porn film once a month !!!

Well, that's 90% of porn gone then. Poor Britain.

I don't know on which channel you watch your porn, but very little choking on the ones I happen to stumble upon.

You happen to stumble on porn by accident? Do tell how that happens.

That's like when she cheated and accidentally had someone inside her...

That's outrageous.

Another reason to never visit the UK anymore.

For those porn aficionados in the UK, how have the new ID checks for porn affected you?

Changing your VPN to Austria works, so I have been told!

I'll be honest it isn't too bad. If someone wants to know i watch porn then so be it, so i don't give a <deleted> out privacy.

But it was far too open for children to access it, so in hindisight i do welcome it.

Well , it's the UK , so stabbing porn will still be ok.

The UK has gone ultra-woke and anti men.

Put women in government and this is what happens.

What about films with choking?

Still allowed?

Or only when men are being choked?

Lol.

I've encountered many women in the UK and Thailand that invited me to choke them during sex, I always thought to myself "I do what they ask, they get marks on their neck, then report me for rape, and they have evidence"

Seems to be a female fetish, where no sensible male would partake.

I've also been asked several times by different Filipinas to choke them.

Huge fetish for women.

Most likely because it's so prevalent in porn these days, and they watch it.

That sort of stuff is for deviant weirdos who have watched too much porn online and think it's normal, which hardly reflects the real world... call me old fashioned, but attempting to strangle a woman close to death during sex is for the menally disturbed.

Ironically, trust the BBC to show a picture of two fellas at it and never miss an opportunity to misrepresent the country, and surprised they didn't promote that they should give each other a reach-around.... FFS!

Why does anyone NEED to choke someone or be choked during sex?

What's the psychological disorder behind it?

If I was in the government, I would make psychotherapy mandatory for anyone with a choking fetish.

Let's find out what's wrong with you and fix it.

I never do it because I don't trust myself to let go in time, if you accidentally do it too long, no telling what could happen.

Clearly it has to do with the female desire to be dominated. If you think about it, in the cavemen days a woman naturally craved the most dominant male, even today they like the bad guys.

For the same reason a male likes a submissive woman, less energy required to secure sex.

Interestingly evolutionary biolgists have found that certain primate females tend to make a lot of noise during sex, in order to attract the most dominant male and have sex with him instead. That's why women scream during sex today still, while men go quiet, the female is telling everyone how she is having sex, with the aim to attract an even more dominant male.

Are you sure it is the BBC who posted the picture and not AN or similar.

women who like the "bad guys" it's probably because they were abused.

and probably the same with choking.

and yes, some people have taken it too far and occasionally there is a death that results.

Trust you to misrepresent things. Click the link, it is not a BBC image - it is an AN image.

So you are accusing AN of being gay?

Doesn't matter.... still a subtle attempt to maniplutate and socially engineer general attitudes.

Why not have a dude strangling a woman as that's what the story is about... but, oh no, we couldn't have that could we, as it might seem too misogynistic.

Do try to wake up and see how these media type entities manipulate the fashionable narrative for the weak minded... i.e. so many.
