Thai-UK Community Marks 170 Years of Diplomatic Ties with Temple Ceremony

Diplomats from Thailand and the United Kingdom gathered at Wat Buddhapadipa in Wimbledon to hold a Royal Kathina robe-offering ceremony in commemoration of 170 years of bilateral friendship. The event also served as a fundraiser for repairs to the temple’s roof and celebrated both the temple’s 60th anniversary and its role as the first Thai Buddhist temple in the UK. The ceremony mirrored earlier events in Bangkok and highlighted cultural, religious and diplomatic ties between the two nations.
