Couple Found Living on Pedestrian Bridge for Three Months

Authorities in Phetchabun have removed a couple who had been living on a pedestrian bridge in Lom Sak district for around three months. The pair, a husband and wife, had turned the bridge into a makeshift home, hanging their clothes and blocking the walkway, prompting safety concerns among residents. Local officials have since relocated them to a nearby temple for temporary shelter.

The incident came to light on 6 November 2025 after a local news page in Phetchabun posted photos of the bridge spanning the Saraburi–Lom Sak road near Wat Prachum Khongkharam (Wat Nam Phung) in Lom Sak municipality. The post stated that people had set up a covered area on the bridge, obstructing passage on the route. The structure, described as tunnel-like due to solid municipal boarding covering both sides, made it a secluded spot difficult for pedestrians to access safely.

Reporters who visited the site found piles of rubbish, household items and scattered belongings covering nearly half of the bridge. Police and municipal officials had already ordered the couple to vacate the area. Locals explained that the bridge, located near a small school and opposite an unused rice mill, was poorly lit and rarely used, making it vulnerable to loitering and drug use.

Neighbours identified the couple as residents of Ban Nam Phung Tai in Wat Pa subdistrict, Lom Sak, not far from the bridge. They were said to be ordinary individuals with drug addiction problems rather than homeless or disabled. According to a local resident, “They are not vagrants or disabled people but normal individuals who use drugs. Their relatives refused to let them stay at home, so they moved here about two or three months ago. We didn’t realise they had settled permanently.”

Residents urged the municipality to remove the boarding, blocking both sides of the bridge to improve visibility and discourage further illegal use. “If the bridge was open and visible like normal crossings, it would be much safer,” one villager said.

Municipal officers have now arranged for the couple to stay temporarily at Wat Prachum Khongkharam while coordinating with the Phetchabun Provincial Homeless Protection Centre. Officials plan to visit the site on Tuesday, 11 November 2025, to assess the couple’s situation and determine appropriate welfare support measures.

Key Takeaways

• A couple lived for about three months on a pedestrian bridge in Lom Sak, blocking access and raising safety concerns.

• Authorities relocated them to a temple and will work with welfare agencies to provide assistance.

• Residents have called for the removal of boarding to make the bridge more visible and secure.

If Drugs are involved they are better to send them to the Wat Thamkrabok: Thailand's Extreme Buddhist Rehabimage.png.ef21ac36924be1895d703d95b2299c6d.pngto get treatment then figure out how to get them sme skills so that they can be part of society.

The U.S. and Canada have proven giving money to drug addicts does not help the situation.

Also yu do not need drug addicts living on normal temple grounds   Thai temples have enough problems with the non addicted monks

One way to make a nuisance of yourself..

It's like something out of Mionty Python and the shoe box in the middle of the road. "Luxury, luxury, they don't know they are born."
