A Thai couple from Samut Prakan province were hospitalised after suffering chest pain and breathing difficulties linked to brain dietary supplements obtained from a private clinic. The incident occurred late on November 8, when both individuals suddenly developed severe symptoms shortly after taking the pills. Emergency responders transported them to Samut Prakan Hospital, where doctors are now monitoring their condition.

Hospital staff received an emergency call around midnight via the 1669 hotline, reporting that the couple were experiencing chest tightness and shortness of breath at their apartment in Soi Bearing 12, Samrong Nuea district. Rescue teams provided first aid before rushing them to the hospital for urgent treatment.

The patients were identified as 45-year-old Krin and 44-year-old Khemjira. According to reports, both experienced vomiting, rapid breathing, chest pain and heightened anxiety. Their daughter informed doctors that she had purchased a brain supplement from a private clinic and given it to her parents as a health gift. Each took one pill before the onset of symptoms.

The supplement, marketed as enhancing brain function, is often prescribed to individuals recovering from strokes, brain injuries, dementia or memory loss. Medical staff are now investigating whether the symptoms were caused by side effects from the supplement or by an unrelated health condition. Authorities are looking to trace the clinic involved and test the product for harmful substances.

The incident has renewed public concern over the safety of unverified supplements sold by private clinics and online channels in Thailand. Health experts have repeatedly urged consumers to verify products with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and consult medical professionals before using them.

Doctors at Samut Prakan Hospital continue to monitor Krin and Khemjira’s recovery and are awaiting test results to determine the supplement’s contents and safety risks.

Its articles like this that can lead to supplement hesitancy.

It is bad enough risking your life at their "Normal" hospitals or clinics, but visiting these quacks and taking quack supplements are asking for an ice box and a rinse with some coconut water.

You say that as if it's a bad thing. Many supplements are useless.

Stick to Creatine, Walnuts for enhanced cognitive recovery.  At least there is evidence of potential benefits.

Another clinic. Why do people continue to use these places ?

They should have bought the Smart Pills, not the Brainless Pills

and we have four dipsticks that think this is funny,

Well, that "supplement" didn't work, did it...

Kind of a bizarre statement from my point of view. I feel infinitely safer even in a public hospital in Thailand than I do in an American Hospital, where the care is not particularly good, the nursing staff is obnoxious, and a single extended visit could drive a family into bankruptcy without good health insurance.

So what was the purported supplement called?

Halfabrain.
