Stunning video shared to social media shows a massive landslide cause the new Hongqi Bridge in a mountainous region of China to partially collapse Tuesday afternoon.

The bridge in Sichuan, which is part of a national highway that connects central China to Tibet, was damaged just months after it opened.

Authorities in Maerkang city said in a statement that no casualties or injuries were reported, reports China Daily.

Pre-ordained? Perhaps the Tibetan monks caused it as retribution for having their country stolen 😙

Typical shelf life of made in China.

I don't think there was much they could do to prevent a landslide destroying the bridge. That looks like a lot of tonnage of rock coming down on it.

That’s part of the engineering failure.

Build 'em up. Watch 'em go down. Build 'em up again. It's all great for GDP.

Did they build the bridge in an unstable area? It sure looks like it.

They've built several such bridges in mountainous areas of central & western China - very high, stunning engineering challenges, beautiful to look at.

They'll all now have to be checked & double-checked for assorted risk factors.
