  • Its better than living in the UK

  • Its home, and we are happy here.

  • This is actually a much more complex question than many think... and the poll should have the option of "None of the above". Yes, you get all the usual reasons like cheaper to live here, more fun

  • Author

Well the polls have spoken - looks like most are stuck here because they have some kind of family commitments.

Now, what if I told you....

Why? Are you even living in Thailand? If so, why are you here complaining, when you should use your time to relocate?

Why are you here singing Thailands praises constantly?

Are you on the payroll?

Eric.

I live here because I have a wife and family here, because there's plenty of work for geologists within SE Asia, and because I like the country.

I am not singing any praises for Thailand. I am replying, posting and commenting on many negative aspects as well. However, as Thailand is one of the most popular retirement destinations in the world, your constant negativity has a very weak and small voice. As so many chose to relocate, work or retire in Thailand, it tells the grim story that you might be totally wrong.

I take that one: The beaches and temples.

Never had any problem understanding that. Just that your constant negativity, is right out boring and need some remarks.

Also, where is your opinion? You are asking other people, as you created a poll.

It was a cliché, but I am sure you didn´t get it.

Could you vote yourself? You dotted I'm broke, right? Because if you weren´t, you would have been taking care of your situation instead of moaning every hour.

What's not to like?

I have the wife and family, we live in a spacious and comfortable home, in a city that's easy to live in, with all the amenities for an enjoyable life. Thailand isn't a difficult country, the people are welcoming, there's plenty to see and do, and if you get bored there are countries nearby worth exploring. The weather's nice and sunny most of the time and it doesn't get cold. For me there's plenty of consultancy work around SE Asia all within a reasonable FIFO commute such that I can pick and choose and work about two to three months a year.

Have you ever visited?

Your concerns are noted but I live and enjoy my life, clearly you don't, I'm sorry for you.

Fair point, but I would think almost anywhere is better than living in the UK, except maybe Afghanistan?

Uh-huh

if only you had used the brain that God gave you to read a book or learn to type.

But you work for a hospital, in socialist land. You too are a civil servant. Just a low level one.

I made my money in recruitment before working for the government to finally use my brain. I don’t get a pension.

Tell us again about your last conversation with the long-suffering owner of Canterbury books. Those are my favorite wacky riffs of yours.

Thanks, actually I was a headhunter. The difference is that I got paid whether I found the warm body or not. Some brutal years, but I was done by age 40.

It was during the wolf of Wall Street era. That film was bs.

Like when they were tossing the dwarf for fun? I went to the only dwarf tossing. The cops broke it up. Not a single dwarf was ever tossed.

Don’t buy into the hype.
