Thai immigration police in Chonburi have arrested five Indian nationals for allegedly operating illegal online gambling activities from a condominium in the Thepprasit 17 area of Pattaya, seizing equipment and financial records worth more than 2 million baht. Officers raided a second-floor unit on 19 November and found the men working at laptops with dozens of mobile phones arranged on a table. The group was taken into custody after police uncovered evidence suggesting the room was being used as an online gambling support base.

The operation followed intelligence reports indicating that Indian nationals were illegally working as online gambling administrators for platforms based in India while using Thailand as their operational hub. Police said the suspects were discovered in room 205 with three laptop computers, 22 mobile phones, a tablet, credit cards and notebooks containing records of money transfers worth several million rupees, equivalent to around 2 million baht. The documents showed transactions consistent with topping up accounts on gambling websites.

The arrested individuals were identified as Shivam Shivam, 29; Sandeep Kumar, 24; Sakir Sakir, 27; Kapil Kapil, 24; and Gaurav Jaiswal, 39. All five men denied running gambling operations and claimed they were only customer service administrators, without providing further details about the services they offered. Police say the seized items and recorded transactions will form key evidence in determining the scope of the alleged activities.

Pol. Col. Napassapong Khositsuriyamanee, superintendent of Chonburi Immigration, stated that the arrest stemmed from information that the group had been working illegally and conducting online gambling activities linked to platforms in India. He said investigators planned the raid after confirming the suspects’ movements and activity patterns inside the condominium. The substantial amount of equipment and transfer records is expected to support charges relating to unauthorised work and possible further offences.

The Daily News reported that the suspects have been transferred for questioning and authorities are examining the devices to establish the full network and financial flow behind the operation. Officers plan to pursue charges under Section 8 of the Alien Workers Management Emergency Decree B.E. 2560 for working without permission or outside authorised conditions. The men were handed over to Pattaya City Police Station for legal processing, with further action expected as the investigation progresses.

I wonder who was doing the 'actual gambling' and will they be held to account?

Some jail time in Thailand followed by a lifetime ban.

Gamblers are already losing their money. The focus should be on those running the gambling.

So they will only be charged for working illegally?  Presumably "operating illegal online gambling activities" is a reserved occupation?

Perhaps the type of 'customer service administrators' that call you and say they work for Microsoft and have detected problems on your computer.
