A family of eight suffered electric shocks, while moving a makeshift tea-shop structure to escape rising floodwater in Nakhon Si Thammarat, leaving one person dead and others seriously injured. The incident occurred on the evening of 21 November 2025 in Moo 3, Tha Pracha sub-district, Cha-Uat district, prompting an urgent response from police and rescue teams. Seven survivors were rushed to hospital, with four still unconscious and placed in  intensive care.

Police from Cha-Uat Police Station and rescuers from Siam Ruamjai Pu In emergency unit arrived shortly after receiving the alert at around 18.10. At the scene, eight family members were found injured, with four in critical condition and unresponsive. Rescuers performed CPR on the most serious cases, successfully stabilising three before transporting all casualties to Cha-Uat Hospital.

One victim, identified as 21-year-old Natthakorn, was pronounced dead at Cha-Uat Hospital. Four others remained unconscious and were transferred to Maharaj Nakhon Si Thammarat Hospital for treatment.

Investigators found that the family had been attempting to move a temporary tea-shop shelter located in front of their home due to high flood levels. During the process, an electrical leak occurred, causing all eight to be shocked simultaneously. Police confirmed that the incident happened suddenly as the water level had risen around the structure.

Naewna reported that the incident highlights the dangers faced by residents dealing with flood-related hazards, particularly when electrical systems are exposed to water.
