A 26-year-old pickup truck driver allegedly driving under the influence crashed across a traffic lane in Trat province, hitting three motorcycles in succession and causing two deaths and three injuries. The collision happened on the Trat–Laem Sok road near kilometre marker 9 in Huong Nam Khao, Mueang district. Police, medical staff from Trat Hospital and rescue workers were dispatched to the scene following reports of multiple casualties.

Emergency responders found one deceased victim, 28-year-old motorcyclist Sippanon, lying beside the road with severe facial, arm and leg injuries, and his yellow Honda Giorno damaged nearby. His passenger, 30-year-old Anusara, was discovered in nearby grassland with critical injuries and was taken to Bangkok Trat Hospital, where she later died. Two more motorcyclists, 29-year-old Natthapoom and 26-year-old passenger Thammarat, were found with grazes after their black Honda Giorno fell onto the road, while 28-year-old Poonsak suffered similar injuries and was found some distance away beside his red Honda Giorno.

Rescue personnel provided first aid to all injured victims before transporting them to Bangkok Trat Hospital for treatment. The father of Sippanon arrived at the crash site and embraced his son’s body in visible grief. Police also inspected the vehicle believed to have caused the crash, a grey Nissan pickup with severe front damage, a shattered windscreen and a detached rear bed lying in roadside grass.

The driver was identified as 26-year-old Watcharapong, who appeared intoxicated and was accompanied by his girlfriend, who was in shock. Officers reported finding beer and white spirit bottles in the back of the vehicle. According to his girlfriend, the pair were returning from Laem Sok Bridge when Watcharapong allegedly fell asleep at the wheel, causing the pickup to veer across the lane and strike the three oncoming motorcycles before leaving the roadway.

Amarin reported that investigating officer Pol Lt Sittichai Saisorn took Watcharapong into custody for further questioning at Ao Cho Police Station, where he admitted to drinking alcohol before driving. Police arranged for a blood test to measure his alcohol level and began formal legal proceedings. Authorities confirmed that the incident resulted in two fatalities and three injuries and said they were gathering evidence to pursue the case decisively.

I'd never heard of that model before. Not a good way for me to find out.
