Military and border patrol forces engaged in two separate clashes with drug trafficking groups along the Mae Fah Luang district in Chiang Rai, near the Thailand-Myanmar border. Authorities seized a total of more than 3.1 million methamphetamine pills during the operations, with no injuries reported among officials.

The first incident occurred when troops from Company 1, Task Force Chao Phraya Tak and Company 327, Border Patrol Police, set up a checkpoint in Ban Lao Wang, Tha Rod Thai subdistrict. A white Mitsubishi Triton pickup truck, registered in Chiang Mai, approached the checkpoint and opened fire on officers before fleeing. The vehicle was later found abandoned in the forest, containing 14 rainbow-coloured sacks with 2.8 million methamphetamine pills.

Later, troops from Ranger Company 3107, Task Force Pha Muang, patrolling the Mae Salong area, encountered a group of 4–5 individuals carrying backpacks modified from straw sacks along a natural border path near Ban Pong Hai. When officials attempted to search the group, they fired on officers, leading to a five-minute exchange. No injuries were reported, but the suspects abandoned two backpacks containing 300,000 methamphetamine pills before escaping into the forest.

Naewna reported that Aauthorities confirmed that all seized drugs, totaling 3.1 million methamphetamine pills, are now in custody. The operations reflect ongoing efforts to disrupt cross-border drug trafficking networks in northern Thailand. Officials plan to continue investigations to track down and apprehend the perpetrators.
