Providing a "bank certificate/letter"

Featured Replies

Applying for Non-O at the Thai embassy in Manila, PH as US citizen (PH resident), I was informed:

"Downloaded electronic bank statements are acceptable provided that they clearly show your name, account number, balance, and transaction history.

And they are accompanied by a bank certificate/letter issued by your bank."

My bank for the proof of funds is a US bank account. Is it even possible to get a "bank certificate/letter" from a US bank while located in PH?
If I call my bank in the US to request this, what should it look like? What does a "bank certificate/letter" contain?

Thank you in advance for any help.

Don't you have online banking app with the USA account.

You don't want a bank letter.

A bank statement should be sufficient.

Thanks for your reply DrJack54. The Thai Embassy specifically told me that my electronic statement downloaded from my US banking app should be accompanied by a "bank certificate/letter". Sorry I wasn't clear.

When I said I was informed, I meant that I was informed by the embassy.

Do you have proof of a US address, a driver license, etc. that matches the address on your US bank statement?

If so, consider applying online to the appropriate Thai embassy in the US for an eVisa.   You only need to upload your passport, the bank statements, and the proof of address document.

And your flight itinerary.

A bank certificate is an official, bank-issued document verifying account ownership, balance, and details (like account number, type, and opening date) at a specific point in time, used for legal, visa, loan, and financial proof purposes. It differs from a bank statement by being a snapshot of financial status, often on-demand, rather than a detailed, ongoing transaction record.

It's the same type of document Thai Immigration request to accompany a bank statement when applying for an extension.

I see that the LA website says it wants return ticket info.   The Wash DC one does not list that requirement.    https://washingtondc.thaiembassy.org/en/page/non-o-retirement.   I applied to DC.   I dont know where the OP would have to apply because it depends on where his proof of address is.   Nor do I know if the eVisa applications are completely standardized.  I would assume so, but embassies probably have some discretion and the application website specifically asks to which embassy you are applying.   So maybe if a person directs the application to LA, the person will be prompted to enter return flight info while if they apply to DC, they are not required to input return flight info.

For me, the application did not ask for return flight info.   I remember this clear as a bell because I had already booked a one way ticket so I would have been unable to enter return flight info.   The eVisa application only asked for entry flight info.    In fact, it didnt even ask from what US city I was departing; it asked what is the final port from which I was entering Thailand which for me was Japan.   I entered that.    No issues.   Visa arrived in less than one week.

Thanks for your post! I didn't know we could download and printout our own account records. That makes sense, though, since that's what they do when I get these copies from the bank. The bank, however, signs each one, attesting to its accuracy. I don't know if they’d do that with an account record that you would bring in. I'll try that the next time I renew my one-year extension, but that won't be until next December.

Immigration should not accept statements downloaded via app.

Nor should your bank touch them.

Just obtain a 12 month bank statement for your annual extension.

They are valid for 7 days. 200b.

BBL Folk would be aware of time lag to obtain statement.

Another good reason to use alternative bank
