A family in Pattaya was left shocked early on 9 December after a white Toyota Vios crashed through their front gate and ploughed into the wall of their home, causing extensive structural damage and injuring three people inside. The incident occurred at 07:05 in Village Rung Ruang, Soi 4, house number 50/144, Moo 5, Bang Lamung district of Chonburi. Rescue workers found the driver trapped in the vehicle and the homeowner’s wife seriously injured after a bathroom wall collapsed on her.

Emergency responders from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan rescue centre and officers from Nong Prue Police Station arrived to find the car had struck the gate with force before crashing through the house wall. The driver, described as disoriented, claimed he had blacked out and could not recall the events leading to the crash. Two other residents suffered minor injuries and were quickly transferred to hospital for treatment.

According to the homeowner, 44-year-old Wirote Bunbamrung, the crash occurred while he was preparing to take his child to school and his wife was inside the bathroom. He heard a loud collision at the gate moments before discovering the vehicle lodged inside the house. Rescue personnel had to use hydraulic cutting tools to free his wife from the collapsed bathroom structure before she was taken to hospital in serious condition.

Police photographed the scene and took the driver into custody for an alcohol test as part of routine investigative procedures. Officers also began collecting CCTV footage from the surrounding area to determine the cause of the incident, including whether the driver’s claim of losing consciousness can be corroborated. Structural inspectors were expected to assess the extent of damage to the home, which includes a fully collapsed wall section.

Authorities said further steps will depend on the outcome of toxicology results and the review of surveillance footage. Investigators will also consider potential charges based on evidence from the scene and witness statements. The police will prepare a formal report once all findings are compiled to clarify the circumstances behind the crash.
