Anybody actually watch the CCTV? 🤔   Clearly the driver of the pickup is responsible as he did not give way to the oncoming motorbike before making a right turn

  • I implore any of the parents tuned in.  If you have kids around that age, (and you can afford it) buy them an old beater- a bigass car or a pickup.  Even if they don't have a license yet.

  • Two problems/issues here:   1. intersection is well lit, motorcycle appears out of the dark with minimal front light - difficult to see for the pick-up driver   2. Motorcycle is dr

Did you not sit through the video in order to get your licence?

I doubt he has a licence, but if he does it should be taken off him asap

That clearly shows the bike and car were travelling on the main road with markings, which means the truck cut in front of the bike whilst making a right turn, the bike, sadly, had nowhere to go.....😬

True but to drive in Thailand using standard logic derived from road markings is extremely dangerous. Best to apply fuzzy logic and slow down anywhere ambiguity might arise.

And similarly taken off anyone who thinks that the pick-up was on the main road.

True, though I think the truck driver was probably in a fuzzy state..........🤗

well you have bothered to  memorise how far it is

Oh Bday, I don't know how you think up such clever answers.

Even my 4 year old can remember that a 1+ a 3 mean thirteen.

Rescuers identified three injured youths, aged between 13–15, comprising one male and two females. The male and a 13-year-old girl were unconscious with no pulse, while another 13-year-old girl suffered a fractured upper left leg and was in a critical condition. First aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation were administered to the two pulseless victims before all three were rushed to hospital.

First 13 year olds on motorbikes, once again.

After, I could not see the blinker on the car switching.

I am convinced that the first thing many Thais do after obtaining their "zero deposit" motorcycles is to remove the front and rear lights, but have yet to establish why

With the exception of the one in this incident that clearly was not without a light.

Old guys like that probably grew up before cars were popular in Thailand.

Plenty of cars in Thailand in the 60s and 70s when he was growing up!

What if he had been?   You have a point?

I wish parents that allow their children to ride motorcycles to first get proper training and teach them to wear proper protective gear.

good idea , in theory,  but there is no proper training available

Er, yes, there is.

indeed, but in my comment I clearly stated "many Thais"  I was clearly, or so i thought, not specifically referring to this particular incident,

However having apparently confused two members already and now you  too, maybe it wasn't so clear after all

A bit like the headlight

well I live and learn,     maybe it should be compulsory ?     Would they do special rates for those too young to have a licence?

why quote me? I have said nothing about the pick up having right of way

From the motorcycle side STOP SIGN

From all other sides there are orange warning signs VEHICLES ENTERING JUNCTION

If the stop and warning signs were 2 meters wide it would make little difference.

That is not a STOP sign.

The sign says YUD.

Also, the placement of any of those signs is totally useless to moving vehicles.

Maybe if you were walking, you might see them before entering the intersection.

That YUD sign is WAY UP high, like the moon, and out of sight, behind a bush.

Very ill-placed, IMHO.

They do that so that evil spirits will not follow them

The placement/location of this YUD sign is way to the left.

And, it is way too high.

Impossible to see for any driver at night.

Signing such as this would NEVER pass muster in any well designed intersection around the world.

So, these sign-related issues are a major problem, too.

The pick-up was following the road, he had the right of way but anyone that is not local would not know that, the lane that the motorcycle was on is the merging lane, but since it has recently been surfaced there are no lines to depict that, if you look at the right of the picture you can see the white lines on the main road disappearing under the tarmac, motorcycle was wrong on so many counts.

To me, it appears that there is a very faint 'Stop' double line just visible next to the parked white bike's bars.

On the road from which the wrecked bike emerges, you can clearly see the central dividing line painted on top of what you claim, as one who knows the junction(?), is a recently resurfaced road. No indication whatsoever that priority is given to vehicles turning as the pick-up did.   There also appears to be a faded central line on the extreme left of the frame. Also, the edge line/shoulder is painted on top of your resurfaced road, on both sides of the road. The road has, therefore, been marked after resurfacing.

LATER - Just looked on Google Earth - attach screenshots of that junction. Coming from the bike's direction, there's a 'Stop' sign, high up and possibly invisible in the dark.

So road markings suggest priority to the bike, signs suggest the exact opposite. Totally confusing and an open invitation for this type of accident to happen. Conclusion - the local highways authority is to blame for this accident.Screenshot2025-12-15083547.png.cde437b56867885fe33720197fafa64d.png
