DOJ sues Georgia county as Trump pushes fake 2020 election fraud

Featured Replies

  • Popular Post

President Donald Trump has increasingly pressured his administration to find widespread voter fraud in the 2020 election, despite those claims having been debunked and dismissed in dozens of cases by the courts.

The Justice Department has filed a lawsuit against Fulton County, Georgia, over records related to the 2020 election, escalating the Trump administration’s efforts to boost the president’s false claims that his loss to Joe Biden was rigged.

Citing a need to investigate “compliance with federal election law,” the lawsuit demands Georgia election officials turn over “all used and void ballots, stubs of all ballots, signature envelopes, and corresponding envelope digital files from the 2020 General Election in Fulton County.”

After cheering it on, ,I expect all the hardcore MAGA supporters to claim some kind of face-saving victory when this investigation fails.

NB So if Trump can prove that the 2020 election was rigged and he should have been President as of 20JAN2021, does that mean his current presidency is void?

5 years later, Trump is still ridiculously whining about the 2020 election, during which he was beaten flat and square! 🤣

“We will not hand over Coloradans’ sensitive voting information to Donald Trump. He does not have a legal right to the information,” Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold (D) said Thursday after the lawsuit was filed, according to The Associated Press.

State leaders say they are legally obligated to conceal documents with personally identifiable information such as voters’ names, birth dates, addresses and driver’s license numbers or partial Social Security numbers.

They're hiding the voter rolls because there's a bunch of dead people, non-residents, fictitious people and non-citizens on them.  There are people registered from gas stations and vacant lots.  There are people who illegally vote in several states.

Personally, I think we deserve to know how many of them.  Whether it's enough to affect the outcomes on a local, state or national level.

Who is "they"?

As concerns the Epstein files, it's been a MAGA hoax to smear Dems until early this year! Bondi had them on her desk and MAGA posters were salivating about it.

And ooops! Suddenly it became an old story!

Trump has been lying about the "stollen" election for 5 years, despite the fact that each and every GOP lawsuit, recount and audit failed ( including in Fulton County, I guess)!

The statute 20701 cited by the DoJ cites a 22 month required holding period.

The single Count states:

Any record or paper required by section 20701 of this title to be retained and preserved shall, upon demand in writing by the Attorney General or his representative directed to the person having custody, possession, or control of such record or paper, be made available for inspection, reproduction, and copying at the principal office of such custodian by the Attorney General or his representative. This demand shall contain a statement of the basis and the purpose therefor.

That what Trump claims. That says it all! :coffee1:

But what if all the dead people, non-residents, fictitious people and non-citizens voted for Trump.

38 minutes ago, candide said:

It sure does.  But he's hardly the only one:

In 2014, the academic journal Electoral Studies published a groundbreaking study by three scholars who estimated how frequently non-citizens were illegally voting. Based on data for the 2008 presidential and congressional elections, the study found that:

“roughly one quarter of non-citizens” in the U.S. “were likely registered to vote.”

“6.4% of non-citizens actually voted.”

81.8% of them “reported voting for Barack Obama.”

illegal votes cast by non-citizens “likely” changed “important election outcomes” in favor of Democrats, “including Electoral College votes” and a “pivotal” U.S. Senate race that enabled Democrats to pass Obamacare.

https://www.justfacts.com/news_non-citizen_voter_registration

And that was long before Trump even hit the political scene

For 2020:

Based on current population data from the Census Bureau and voting data from previous elections, Just Facts has conducted a study to estimate the number of votes illegally cast by non-citizens in the battleground states of the 2020 election. The results—documented in this spreadsheet—show that such fraudulent activities netted Joe Biden the following extra votes in these tightly contested states:

Arizona: 51,081 ± 17,689

Georgia: 54,950 ± 19,025

Michigan: 22,585 ± 7,842

Nevada: 22,021 ± 7,717

North Carolina: 46,218 ± 16,001

Pennsylvania: 32,706 ± 11,332

Wisconsin: 5,010 ± 1,774

These estimates account for just one type of election fraud, and they tend to understate it because they depend on Census surveys, which are known to undercount non-citizens.

https://www.justfactsdaily.com/quantifying-illegal-votes-cast-by-non-citizens-in-the-battleground-states-of-the-2020-presidential-election

You wanna know how we can tell for sure?  Make the states turn over their voter data.  And if they don't, ask them what they're hiding.

Edit:  This also goes a long way toward explaining why Dems wanted the borders open and why they're fighting tooth and nail to keep illegals from being deported.  Even rapists and murderers.

In other words, no proof! :coffee1:

Fulton county has been probably the most audited county after the 2020 election, and nothing significant was found.

On top of it, Biden got twice more votes than Trump, in this dominantly Dem county. There's no way that the difference between Biden and Trump, more than 140,000 votes, could result from fraud. That's simply ridiculous!

"Finally, the machine recount, requested by Trump, reported 523,779 votes cast for president in Fulton County. Trump received 137,247 of those votes, a net gain of seven votes; and Biden received 380,212 of the votes, a net loss of 932 votes."

https://www.politifact.com/article/2024/may/24/fact-checking-misleading-claims-of-2020-election-f/

It's just the latest pathetic attempt by Trump to substantiate his lies!

How can they audit what hasn't been turned over?

The lawsuit asks for all ballot materials from Fulton County, where Trump faced criminal charges related to election interference in Georgia.

Ask yourself, if there's nothing to hide, why are they fighting so hard to hide it, 5 years later?

BTW, you can tell Politico are a bunch of hacks when they refer to the hotbed of false election fraud conspiracy theories before the evidence is even turned over.  They can't possibly know the theories are false until the evidence is turned over.

Lol! After 5 years of failed GOP lawsuits, recounts and audits! 🤣

Read Jerry's post, it's illegal in this State to provide this information.

BTW, Raffensberger is a Republican!

BTW, the source you tried to sneak in (Agresti) in a previous post has been already debunked, as expected!

One independent researcher, James Agresti, published a re-interpretation of a widely discredited 2014 paper to make untenable conclusions about non-citizen voting behavior in 2024. No "new study" concluded that 10 to 27% of noncitizens in the U.S. are registered to vote.

The paper on which this claim is based produced estimates of noncitizen voter participation that even its author, Jesse Richman, no longer agrees with. The scientists responsible for collecting the data Richman used say it was a wildly inappropriate use of their data.

Despite these new developments, Agresti still relies on outdated estimates from that paper that are widely considered to be useless. Nonetheless, Agresti told Snopes he stands by his work.

https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/noncitizens-registered-to-vote/

In summary, you still have nothing! 🤣

The only documented cheating in that election was a Republican in NC who was caught filling out mail in ballots for elderly and of course all the votes were for Republicans.

The Allegation: The DOJ's lawsuit claims that Fulton County is in violation of federal law, specifically 52 U.S.C. § 20701, by refusing to provide these records for inspection after a formal written demand.

Fulton County's Position: County officials have stated they previously declined the request because state law requires these materials to be held under seal and cannot be released without a court order.
