Which other President reacted as Trump did, when a political opponent or critic died?

I get on very well with @transam so, at the risk of being presumptuous, I'm sure that he won't mind me using one of his phrases.

Anyway, enough please. I have more than enough evidence to support my proposition.

You like him? Must be the only one.

The mystery is why even his close family are not correcting him. He has no semblance of basic humanity. Surely someone close to him, obviously not Melania, loves him and can see he is failing by the day.  The nation won't last another three years of this.

I don't think there are any members of his family that are still friendly with him who have any kind of moral barometer. The ones that did no longer speak to him.

And I think the man is so intolerant of criticism, he has such incredibly thin skin, he's so over sensitive due to his astonishing lack of self-esteem, that he simply can't handle criticism and therefore it's very likely nobody ever confronts him. Which is scary.

Lame deflection! :laugh:

Which President or major political leader reacted in the same way as Trump when a political opponent or critic died (excluding the death of commonly known dictators such as Stalin or Hitler, of course)?

Nick doesn't want to reply and sticks to his false equivalence between ordinary people and a country leader. Can you cite any other President who reacted in the same way as Trump? :laugh:

I always refuse to go there, I think it's too personal. I have a lot of friends and family members that support Trump and I would never refer to them as anything but kind, loving people. I don't understand their choices, and I don't understand why they support this circus clown, but I respect them and refused to demonize them.

I don't hold back when it comes to criticizing him, but I tread carefully when it comes to criticizing his supporters.

They aren't kind loving people .They are bigots ,misogynists and enemies of American Democracy

No need, Nick.

No denying that you've replied on numerous occasions but you haven't disassociated yourself from Trump's remarks. In fact, the nearest that you have come to addressing the very simple, direct question, "Do you think that Trump's remarks were appropriate? 'Yes' or 'No'?",  is to say, " ... it's  hardly a terrible thing to say ..." before launching into another bout of whataboutery.

Yeah congratulations.
If I was a 12 year old girl on Instagram then perhaps I’d agree. But I’m not.
He’s the POTUS for gods sake. Why can’t you see the very obvious difference?

It’s just amazing how you think this is.

If you need it explained (which I think you do), then there’s really no hope for you.

Great answer, Nick. That's the idea. Full of sensitivity and empathy.

You've shown that you like to engage in a bit of whataboutery so, what would your opinion be if an Australian politician made light of the tragic event at Bondi by saying something like, 'We've all got to go sometime'; 'Could have been worse. Might have been more killed'?

Personally, I'd find it very distasteful, inappropriate and unacceptable. But, hey, that's me: A sensitive snowflake. I'm sure that you'd be more phlegmatic. After all, just having a laugh, eh? Just a bit of a wind-up, right? I'm sure that you agree, as to think otherwise might risk you being accused of the charge that you are so keen to levy at others: hypocrisy.

As one political observer noted, the cruelty of maga isn't a bug, it's a feature.

   No ones actually said the above words though .

My  whataboutery was what  people actually said

You are just making things up .

Try to just quote what people actually say .

I keep on topic and you accuse me of  whataboutery

You then go on to make REAL  whataboutery

So hypothetical scenarios have no value? That's where moral philosophers have been going wrong for thousands of years.

Trump isn't dead but that doesn't appear to have stopped you speculating on what his opponents will say and do when that event occurs.

You seem determined to dig yourself an ever deeper hole

Cruelty is the point.

It's a key part of Maga's fascist nature.

You have got to love the Trump for his ability to troll the left wing crazies. And the funny part is, the crazies just fall hook line and sinker for his bait. They just cannot help themselves. Its so funny to see them so worked up.

Just what we want in a president -- being a great TROLL

Funny how instructions have evolved over time: :laugh:

- instead of blaming Trump, one should praise the victims;

- Trump is blamed, but is not the killer;

-  others did rejoice over the death of political figures they did not like (comment: but not from Presidents, country leaders or major political leaders);

- now it's that Trump was only trolling lefties! :coffee1:

Cue Tevye singing........Impeachment.....IMPEACHMENT!

Dems retake the House after the midterms, even aided by Trump's vile post. That means impeachment. Dems now may well retake the Senate. That mean conviction.

I return the question...Will YOU enjoy the net 3 years?

The more he demonstrates his malign bigotted narcism the more that becomes a probable outcome.

The more that becomes a probable outcome then the less likely the Mid Term Elections, if they happen at all, are to become in any way a recognisable electoral process. The major debate will be how these elections will be staged. I suspect the suspension of advance/absentee voting, (following allegations/relevations of large scale fraud), draconian actions on voter registration again due to allegations/relevations of large scale fraud in particular a manufactured suspicion seized upon that many non white voters are immigrants fraudulently registered, resulting in widespread intimidation action by assorted vigilante groups;  and the elections taking place amidst a "federal clampdown" possibly involving large scale curfews and prohibition on assembly of crowds imposed in the name of a "law and order crisis". Miller and "Honan the Magnificent" will have the "troops" in place by then to manage things.

Really?  With which enemy nations is he secretly or illegallly cooperating or conspiring in order to cheat or deceive?
