International money transfer via the SCB EASY App

Featured Replies

I need to a large amount of money (around 1M THB) back to the UK in the near future. I registered with Deemoney but they require a visa to validate my account which I don't have.

Fortunately, I have an SCB account and they have an international money transfer service which supposedly requires no supporting documents and gives a decent exchange rate with low fees.

If anyone has used the service I'd be grateful if you could post your experience 🙂

Sorry no but many SCB clients would probably welcome any news on how it goes for you if you manage it

Sent a few hundred pounds here and there using it , never had any problems and quite quick also 👍

I have used in several times,  once to transfer out 13 Million Thb to my UK bank in 2018 , it was very easy and no questions asked.

Last week , I wanted to transfer out 1 million Thb , tried DMONEY which I use sometimes,  they had a limit of 500,000 Thb.

So I just simply opened my SCB app , pressed International Transfer,  filled in a few details and sent .

No questions were asked,  I didn't even have to do facial ID , only a OTP.

To my amazement , the funds hit my UK bank in a few minutes .

I've just completed the process today and it was very easy. Went to the bank today to register my face. Pretty busy as it's the first day after the long holiday but not too bad.

The app asks for a lot of unnecessary information like home country and address in Thailand which they already know. The receiving bank's name has to be entered manually so I just wrote HALIFAX.

There was a scary dropdown menu regarding the source of income / reason for transfer. There were only 3 options which were 'portfolio investment', 'income from work' and 'real estate purchase' although I'm not sure of the exact wording. I chose 'income from work' as it's effectively the money I sent here while working in China.

The face scan took about 5 or 6 attempts. Half of the failures were due to the exchange rate changing. Also, it was done after dark so maybe more effective in daylight. 🤔

I sent 250k THB and the rate was about 50 satang above the mid-market rate. Not too shabby though as the baht is very strong ATM. I was expecting the fee to be the maximum (฿400) but it was only ฿99.

A slip was generated for the transfer which stated that it was in progress and could take up to 5 business days to the US and 2 business days / immediate for other countries; it took less than 5 minutes 🙂
