I lived near Fang ....33 years ago .    Used to be Linchee trees everywhere, then more recently Orange groves .   Nice area, and drive from CM .  this time of year the forests start to get dry.   Not as pretty as rainy season.

 

Nice trip is to continue from Thaton to Chiangrai and sleep in CRai

  • Distance: Approximately 93 km to 116 km (58 to 72 miles), depending on your specific destination in Chiang Rai.
  • Travel Time: Typically 1 hour 50 minutes to 2 hours 10 minutes in normal traffic.
  • Main Highway: Follow 
    Highway 107
     north slightly to the Tha Ton junction, then turn onto 
    Highway 1089
     (the "mountain route") which leads directly into Chiang Rai

    Fang is another lovely district of Chiang Mai province.  Stayed there 20+ yrs ago and it was lovely.  Pitstop on the way to Golden Triangle area, also lovely, and been there a few times.

     

    What's not to like, except smog season 😷
