MRT only accepting BTS Rabbit cards

Featured Replies

The overhead MRT line near us—Paknam to Ladprao—does not accept MRT cards.

It uses BTS Rabbit cards only! This is certainly a step in the right direction—esp as I am a senior.

Does anyone know of any other MRT lines using BTS Rabbit cards?

Rabbit works on the original BTS (Green) line and the two monorails (Pink and Yellow) lines. I think you are referring to the Yellow line.

The monorails are labelled as "MRTA" as they were funded by MRTA but they are operated by BTSC hence their using the Rabbit.

The Blue and Purple lines accept the MRT+ card.

Sheesh, eh. I don't think there's any other country with this transit confusion.

Of course the Airport Link and Red Line also have their own, different, cards!

Singapore was pretty much the same until the Land Trasport Authority (LTA) got out their big stick. Now one card works for everything including (in conjunction with your vehicle On Board Unit or OBU) road charging and parking as well as, of course, the buses and metro.

MRTA are trying to bring things together with the 40 Baht flat fare after the OTP failed to gain any traction with the Mangmoom card.

We shall see, there's still a lot of resistance from the transit operators.
