Price of Gas?

Featured Replies

Just curious with oil prices dropping why hasn't oil prices in Thailand particularly living here in Pattaya.

Beginning of year 91 sat at 32.50 for months now 31.50 every station the prices are fixed no moving is it just me!

Thai buys from world market crude prices are down but prices here remain the same.🤔

I think it maybe due to the fact that Thailand (government)

already subsidises the price of 'gas'   and it has come down a little bit

at the pumps.

Not sure but I don't think its like th UK were the government imposes 80 percent tax on fuel

but blames the petrol stations for profiteering.

Because state controlled PTT dominates the entire market, supply chain, which limits market competition, and a regulatory system that sets prices rather than allowing for competitive pricing.

The lowest I remember for 91, low as 21, same with diesel that might have been due to U.S. drilling and flacking, jet fuel was also low. During that period the prices fluctuate here in Thailand, many too early but very little movement prices seem stuck and fix.

I may be wrong but I thought the government subsidize and set the standard RON 91 and 95 prices (10% Ethanol) across the country..., same everywhere. Then the companies can set their own prices for any premium or other super sucker gas type prices as they choose...! 😉

The subsidize I've heard a number of times was for Diesel, which is the bread and butter for truckers who haul everything throughout the country helping them down helps keep products low so high prices aren't passed on to consumer.

I did not hear anything in regards to the other fuel, that is being subsidize what I took was the government would help try to control the prices from going up?  Thailand, from my little research buys mostly from the world market even if it was being subsidize why isn't it going down?
