You are aware that costs more than a dorm right, hope you will find your future soon too.

It won't cost me anything. I have no intention of going to the IDC.

I suspect that it where the OP will end up.

Perhaps your advice might be better directed at the OP.

Of course the whole thread is probably a wind up.

And I have no problem to meet you or/and your wife. I just need few days to be safe and back my home.

Can you pay her 1500 baht for 5 nights?  Just an idea but maybe...

I live on the Mekhong river in NE Thailand 🙂 Just get out there and ask around with google translate.  Someone will help.  You will stumble on something if you start asking around.  People or at least some like to help others.

It's a bad idea. I was even thinking about not saying anything and sleeping on the floor in the back of the house, coming in at night when she's asleep. It certainly wouldn't be the best solution, but I'd avoid staying out. And I'd leave before she wakes up.

Last night I followed your advice and went to three different hostels but they all want the passport. Gonna try again.

I'm talking that I wish you the worst too.

Merry Christmas to you too, you nasty little man.

A very long time ago I stayed at a dive hotel on Soi Chaiypoon in Pattaya for 150 baht per night. I'm almost certain they didn't ask for passport. Perhaps this still an option. Sorry I don't live in Pattaya so can't go there right now and check if those dumps are still operating.

May I ask why this would be a joke? Every time someone finds themselves in a shi*** situation, just because they talk about it and seek help, they're labeled as a liar, if not worse. What's happening to me will certainly never happen to any of you, and I certainly hope so. Then go on thinking whatever you want. I'm not hurting anyone, I'm not begging for money, but the only one who'll be out on the street in a few hours is me, not you. Thank you.

Do you remember the name? I will anyway take a look now. Thank you

it may be holiday season but it's still possible to send and receive money from say, family/friend's bank account in home country to a friend's account/western union here? i don't see why you have to wait until Jan to transfer money in this modern world?

This thread is a wind up and full of illegal suggestions, a foreigner needing accommodation must show a valid ID by law otherwise its off to the IDC and deportation.

Sorry I don't remember the name. Perhaps it's not even there anymore. All I remember is that the rooms were very basic fan rooms. Very small but with a toilet and shower. It was on the left-hand side if you come in from Soi Buakhao, closer to 3rd road than Buakhao. It looked like the sort of place most people would avoid. Shabby reception area on the ground floor, it just screamed dive hotel.

We're trying to help the guy out, all you're doing is preaching some moralistic nonsense.

You're absolutely right, and I don't blame you for attacking me. I'm just trying to survive for 13 days, getting out of a situation (the divorce) that turned out worse than I expected. And I'm aware of the risks and willing to pay the consequences, even if I don't want to.

Not sure if already suggested, but you might be able to stay at a temple for free and get some basic food. You might be asked to do some sweeping and mopping.

15 hours ago, Lorente said:

So you suggest just to go to any temple and ask for support?

Didn’t read last four pages, but I know hands down if I walked into any temple near me saying I were hungry they would help me out. For a bed, you would have better chance away from towns etc.

Possible, but this kind of thing happens more than you’d know. Careful what you wish for with that nik.

I could think of 100s of reasons in  the old or modern world.  Now if it were me, there would be no reason to wait until the January but he isn't me 🙂

Whoever sends me the money will do so only on January 2nd. If they could have done it earlier, they would have already done so.

This is why ANW needs strict monitoring.

I think the situation is quite simple to fix, with so many foreigners living in Pattaya, some without family, (I am not...) .
DM the guy, just meet him, and if he is legit, just ask him if your sofa is enough for him... he could be a nice guy to share some days with ... if not, just go away, and that' s it.
Instead we are speaking about passport, visa, police, money transfer ... can't it be more easy in 2025/2026 to help someone ? Not criticizing, just really surprised that after 5 pages no one try this ? By the way temple is the best idea.

Appreciate what you wrote. Even a floor is ok. I am an easy guy, no troublemaker and ready to meet wherever I need to meet.🙏

As you wrote, I think I will end in some temple so better be prepared for that.

There is a lesson here and that lesson is about preparedness and having an exit plan if your life (and wife) go South.  Harvest and save during the bountiful months, and be prepared for the winter.
And it's sad that we live in a world now where children are not willing to sacrifice for the good of the family as a whole.  A father provides for a child's welfare until you are an adult, and then in the father's hour of need - turns her back.

Aesop's The Ant and The Grasshopper and The Two Squirrels, published in The Waterloo Courier of Waterloo are both morality stories of preparedness.

Indeed, and it is… one of the tightest forums out there with a large admin. Canvassing topics are usually obvious and they would’ve watched this.

I don't blame my children: they can't do anything about it. The son is autistic, the daughter is still in school, and the eldest, who lives in Buriram, has a family and is having problems with her son. I might have had a plan B, but the divorce was worse than I thought. Unfortunately, this is the reality. Now I'm out looking for any place that will allow me to stay with my situation, and if not, I'll start asking at the nearby temples. Unfortunately, starting tomorrow, I'll be out on the streets: you can say a lot, but this is the reality for me.

Sorry, I dont really use this platform, but I do read it from time to time.. I cant believe that there is not 1 fellow human being on here not offering the poor guy a sofa/floor/garage to sleep on. He dont ask for money or anyhing, just a place to crash and some rice for max 13 days. Im not in pattaya so i cant really help there :-(. Think about it, if it was yourself.

Now I had to login here for the first time in maybe 8 years to write this rant. If this really is how the world how become, i dont want to be here any more. Merry Xmas

Sorry I didnt see that Phil. Anyway. if someone worry about the cost for letting this guy stay a few days and food, just give me your account info and i will cover the cost.  Im completely baffled that we are even having this thread for this long, maybe the pattaya guys didnt wake up yet so they are excused.
