What's with all the stabbings out there all of a sudden ?

I thought infuencers said Thailand was safe as roses.

Thailand is very safe for foreigners and expats and this kind of thing affects a tiny pinhead of non Thais. 99% of the violence here is Thai on Thai, and Thailand remains one of the safest countries around in my opinion, as long as your mind your own business and keep your nose clean.

"...we all know the reasons why".

Why don't you tell us then?  We don't "all know" why.

I sat in a bar in Bangkok.Suddently 2 guards from a neighbor bar arrived.I foreigner didn't have money to pay his bill.

The guards was wery calm and i approach them asked what's going on.They confirmed that the guy couldn't pay his bill.So i paid the bill about 1100 baht.Case closed.I saw minutes after that the foreigner had alot of cash in his pockets. So i told him to pay me back and he did right away. This guy was wery drunk so maybe he didn't noticed his own cash

Police in Pattaya have arrested a Chinese national following a late-night knife attack on pub security guards on Pattaya South Road, leaving three people injured, one of them seriously. The incident caused panic among tourists and revellers, who fled the area as the suspect carried out the attack.

The attack occurred late at night when a man dressed in black and wearing a mask allegedly armed himself with a knife and began stabbing security guards working outside a pub on Pattaya South Road. Three guards were injured in the incident, with one reported to be in critical condition, while others sustained serious wounds.

According to police from Pattaya City Police Station, officers launched an immediate manhunt following reports of the stabbing. The suspect was tracked down and arrested in Soi Nongkrabok 5, Nong Prue subdistrict. He was identified as Mr Chao Chen, aged 36, a Chinese national.

Police confirmed that Mr Chao Chen was arrested while still in possession of the clothing he was wearing during the attack. Officers are continuing efforts to locate the knife believed to have been used in the stabbings and are conducting further questioning through an interpreter. Authorities stated that the suspect will face legal proceedings and that the case will be handled strictly in accordance with the law.

Investigators are continuing to gather evidence, including CCTV footage from the area and to recover the weapon used in the attack and if others were involved. Police have urged witnesses to come forward and reassured the public and tourists that security measures in Pattaya’s entertainment zones remain in place as the investigation proceeds.

• The suspect, Mr Chao Chen, 36, was detained shortly after the incident with clothing linked to the attack.

These gang members don't seem to be afraid of jail.

They are used to being in and out.

Did he mention he was part of a call center gang or sth? Since they have him in custody, they should make him squeal and take down the whole scam center.

The problem with South East Asian gangs is that prison is just a hazard of the job, they continue running their operations from within prison. The prison conditions, especially to many Thais, are no worse than at home.

They are in fact better, no food or bills to think about.

Witnesses told police that the men reacted angrily when escorted out, issuing threats and claiming to be members of a call centre scam gang. They reportedly warned that they would return with guns and knives to seek revenge. After leaving the area for a period, one man dressed in black allegedly returned and attacked the guards with a knife.

Is this the family friendly resort or just a similar name?

This is the problem with little plastic gangsters, testosterone levels are high combined with fragile egos.

Most influencers is dumb as a bag of sand.

What Thailand REALLY needs to do is kick out the Youtubers.

Nobody likes a camera invading their space 24/7.

That usually works, yes.

You do occasionally get the ' odd ' Thai or foreigner that through drugs or alcohol go ' off reservation ' and attack people for nothing, or for some slight or perceived ' loss of face '

By and large, for the amount of tourists they deal with, I think they fair pretty well, removing road accidents from the equation.

Agree with that, too.

Every skint member walking around  believes the rest of us are actually interested in their two minutes of knowledge and low grade YouTube clips.

The only Youtubers that ought not be banned in Thailand are:

- Walkabout Wayne.  with his friendly, curious, open minded attitude

- Paddy Doyle. with his gentle humorous style

- Sean from Vlogging a Dead Horse. for his manic madmanness

Call center gang?  That's really scary!

"Hey, mess with me buddy and I'll dial-tone your ass!"

I tend to agree with that. I think most YouTube podcasts are highly opinionated, and very skewed depending upon their point of reference, and especially when it comes to the "Thailand update type post" there seems to be very little in the way of factual and correct information.

A call centre scammer and covered head to toe in tattoos doesn't exactly give off a good ' vibe ', not to mention being ' caught on camera! ' Committing the act.

Looks like three strikes and he's out!

Think the guy did a bit more than dial tone their ass!

The last security guard had the right idea to get some distance with the bar stool.  Seen some self defense videos with the plastic or rubber knife and I don't think any where able to prevent being stabbed unless the knife was visible from a distance.

Seemed to all happen in 5 seconds so not much they can do.

Was about to recommend pepper spray until Grok indicated it is illegal for civilians to possess or use pepper spray according to:

Thailand's Hazardous Substance Act B.E. 2535 (1992). Type 4

I was taught that in a knife fight everyone is going to get cut. Expect it. Plan for it by sacrificing a fleshy part of the weak arm as you attack with the strong. Better than ruining your best liver.
While pepper ‘spray’ is illegal in Thailand, pepper is not. If you are close enough to get cut, you’re close enough to throw a handful of pepper. Salt works too.

wait a moment while I unscrew the top of this pepper pot.

Wait a moment while I open my backpack and take out my pepper spray. Same problem.

The only weapon that works is the one in your hand when you need it. Folks with street smarts are 'aware then prepare' when going into dodgy venues. Perhaps unscrew the pepper pot then.  😉
