One year visa custodian to thai child ending

Featured Replies

Hello everybody , my one year custodian to thai kid that i renewed many time is expiring soon. But i dont have the 400 K requirements this year , not YET.  What are my options ? Thanks a lot

If you have not previously received a 60 day "visiting Thai family" extension, you might be able to apply for that.  That should give you time to season the money for the 1-year extension.

You have two options.

Obviously the best is outlined in fist reply from Brandon.

The very other (worst) option is to start over.

This will seem negative however this did not sneak up on you.

Financial  requirements are very clear and the one thing immigration are strict on.

Having stated that, immigration can be flexible on extensions based on support of Thai child.

Suggest you outline issue with your local immigration office.

How soon do you expect to have 400,000 baht and what's your age? If you're 50+ years old, you could consider using an agent to obtain a retirement extension.

What do you mean by starting over? leaving thailand and do a new non O ? Yes you are right about the fact that the requirements are very clear. Sometimes <deleted> happens in life and you didnt plan for it also :)

If im able to do the 60 days extension that should be enough for me to get the funds.

You should be able to obtain that 60 day extension as you have not obtained one previously.

Child needs to attend.

Which immigration office

Here's what you need for the 60-day visit Thai family extension.

This is from the Phuket immigration volunteer website ..

yeah nice advice there hahaha.

Update on the situation :

Went there this morning to have 60 days extension. Unfortunetly its NOT POSSIBLE since i did already a 60 days extension in .... 2020. I told them i have financial problems and i need to be there to take care my son but they didnt mind that too much unfortunetly and told me to leave Thailand asap and come back on a tourist visa that i could change back to Thai child custody later , wich is surprising because i thought you need to enter on Non O to be able to request the one year extension ? Maybe i need to ask a Visa abroad for thai custody but i dont know if i need money on bank account even for a few months visa/

Anyway Renewing Visa every year doesnt allow you for a new 60 days extension , even if he was 6 years ago and even if to take care a thai citizen . :)))))

You would not be applying for an extension when you returned. You would be applying for a new 90-day non-O visa. Afterwards you could then apply for an extension based on that visa. You would need the funds in your account for 2 months, which you would be able to do while on your tourist entry. You will need at least 14-21 days left on your entry stamp in order to apply to convert to non-O visa though.

Thanks for the infos i will do that then. So that gives me a few months to get the money on account. For thai kid custody its 2 months the money on account ? it used to be 7 days for this visa... Do i need the money to apply for the 90 day non O ?

I will leave and come back on a 60-day visa exemption , safe to do that same day ? i dont have tourist visa in this passport...

Am I understand correctly that you haven`t left Thailand for last 6 years?

Otherwise its seems a bit strange, all the time I was thinking one is allowed for 60day extension to visit Thai family per every new entry in Thailand.

You need to GO to your immigration office and ask them. There is nothing in writing that says the 400K has to be seasoned 2 months (like it does for marriage extensions) BUT some offices require it even on raising thai child extension.

Yes you need to have the 400K baht in a thai bank account in your name only when you apply for the initial 90 day Non-O visa..

So did you go to your immigration office and ask them if you could get the 60 day visit thai family extension (assuming you never got it before on any of your previous extensions tied to the stamp you're on now) ???

That is totally dependent on WHERE you're thinking of bouncing out/back in thailand. Some borders make you stay overnight, some charge a 'special fee' (the ones in the south with Malaysia) to let you out and back. As a rule you should be able to bounce out/back but again it's dependent on where you're thinking of trying it

Surprising that you overlooked previously having obtained 60 day extension.

Not sure if immigration mean tourist visa or visa exempt entry.

Pity didn't ask them if you can obtain the Non O at immigration from the visa, exempt entry.

The answer should be: yes

yes i just got an " agent " contact for a fast lane come back special fee , but looks like even with that i may need to stay outside for some time .

you contracted with a "safe entry" company, if they say they can get you in they can, BUT you will have to wait until they check and make sure they can get you in

You should be fine flying out/back using safe entry to get back in

For infos guys, the agent told me that because i have many cambodian stamps post covid, its very dangerous for me to go and back without " fees " . Also i need to re-enter only at bkk airport if i stay only 1 or 2 days nights abroad still need to pay the "fee " . Phuket is too strict . They are going crazy now with tourists re entry and its confirmed by some friends who had troubles.

So i will fly to Vietnam for a few days and back on tourist exemption in bkk.

its a thai teacher with direct contact with immigration officers. Some guys have been using her for years without troubles. The situation now has changed recently and they are cracking down very hard on tourist re entry especially Phuket. Without the " fee " my understanding is you can be in a lot of trouble.

One good friend with a DTV visa just told me that because he had many cambodian stamps the last six months, he now needs to pay " fees " for the fast track in Phuket, because they said too many stamps and will refuse entry..... And even tho he have a legal DTV visa.
