I'm looking for guesthouses or small hotels with monthly rates. Prefer a pool. Hard to find info online. I find condos soul less so prefer GH or hotel. Budget 5,000 to 8,000. I'm referring to the town of PKK rather than province but if you know any gems in Hua Hin like to know as well.

I'm surprised none of the big Youtubers have done videos on the best 5,000 to 8,000 monthly deals in Thailand. Clearly a market for it.

  • There are most probably not enough in this price range to do You Tube videos.

PKK is boring as hell. Can't surf the beach. Stiff like farang dawdling about town. But if cheap is good then .... okay

I'd just go there and ask around. A couple of years back I met a Thai woman named Maggie and she ran a couple of guesthouses, if she's still there she'd be easy to find. Also I noticed down on the front road facing the sea where there are a string of seafood restaurants, there's a store with seating out front and in the evenings it's a farang hangout, you could ask those people, plus drop into the smaller hotels and ask them about monthly rates. Dunno about a pool though, none of the places I've stayed at there over the years had a pool.

I stayed at Sunbeach. It had a pool but I cant contact them to check monthly rates. I will have to hire a bike and ride around I guess. Online info is very limited for monthly.

I think SunBeach & Hadthong are the only 2 that have pools, well, that I know of, and sure there's a few more. Mickey Scotch (YTer) stays at a place, peek at his PKK vids, as they may have monthly rates, since not surfside. I've never looked for, so have to plead ignorance.

No condos here, or many apartments. One month may be hard to find for 5-8k THB. Might even be hard to find for a yearly lease, especially if furnished, which I've never noticed advertised.

You should just come here, stay in hotel, pay daily, might get a weekly rate, and I'd guess with 10 day, or that 2nd week, if you made past 1, you'd be gone. This is not a town for more than a weekend tourist, let alone a single foreigner tourist, unless you bring some company with you, but you'll still be bored after a week.

You got ...

... Ao Manao

... Wat Ao Noi

... Wat on the hill ... and that's it locally to see.

... Aquarium over by Khlong Wan

... Pop down to the other beaches, south, though Ban Krut the only nice one

... Pop up to Sam Roi Yot Nat. Park & beach

2 weeks is more than enough to see anything & everything, within a MC ride away.

I don't think I've ever spent more than 3 days here playing tourist, even the first time with a car.

I like as a retire town, area, but TBH, I'm getting quite bored with it myself. If younger and not settled in, I'd probably leave. But not putting the wife through that, as I may crap out any day cheesy

Or live 10 more years, and think ....

... "WTF were you thinking, and I should have bough that truck also" 🙄

I could get a cheap monthly in HH to dump bag then make short visits to pkk and ban krut.

To much travelling for, especially to Ban Krut on a scooter. Just come to PKK, hang out for a long week. Pop down & up to a few spot, Ban Krut less than 1 hr away, same with SRY.

Or save SRY when your at HH, along with Pranburi beaches, and heading out ot Pala U for some rolling hills. Restaurant on the way that serves and excellent spicy garlic bacon pasta. One of the best plates of food I've had in TH, and that's saying quite a bit.

I can't find any quality gyms in Ban Krut or PKK. I went to PKK night market before it was lame. HH has 3 good night markets and good gyms. Ban Krut has the nicest beach. PKK has some good restaurants and cafes though.

There's a gym & Olympic size pool over at the park & stadium. Think they they have a day rate, as we used to by a yearly member at the pool. Both have been upgraded since. Got most things anyone would need; free weights, machines, aerobic (bike/treadmills)

I doubt that any Youtuber will travel all around the country to find these deals for you.

They can't do seafood to save their life either AND it's expensive along the waterfront

Maybe you choose the wrong restaurants. I ate blue crabs in Ao Manao and they were great.

Depends where you ate, I haven't tried every seafood restaurant along the waterfront, but all the ones I have tried the prices were OK, I was last there mid October, so just 3 months ago, we had dinner at the waterfront and all prices were just average, but there are a couple of fancy looking places there, so perhaps they are expensive.

Agree with those who say PKK is a bit boring and not much to do. I've been going there often for about the past 20 years, the scenery is lovely and I've often considered moving there but I know deep down I'd be bored quickly. Personally I think HH is the best spot in that area, much more to do there and easy enough to pop down to the quieter spots for a few nights if you wanted.

Spent much time in Chumphon?

Not really, I've been there several times, mostly just stopping a night while driving. However I've never seen anything in Chumphon that made me think that I'd ever want to stay longer. If you're looking for a new home down that way perhaps take a look at Bang Saphan Noi (there are 2 - Noi & Yai) it's been some time since I stayed there but I liked it, I also saw something recently that there's a bit of an expat scene going on and some development. Perhaps LA knows more.

Well, I'm not saying PKK is a bad place; the mountain backdrop and sea views are gorgeous, the night market is pretty damn good for food stalls, the beach is clean and good for long walks and the locals were really friendly to me.

But I saw a lot of nearly deads there... and I wondered if it was because of lack of stimulation?

If one's a restless type head further north Pran Buri way and you can get into kitesurfing and old school windsurfing. There's more variety of everything too.

Yes Noi has always been the better of the two. I first went there about 30 years ago and checked it out (I used to write travel features for Bangkok Post...long ago)

Pranburi looks nice but posh.

Bang Saphan Yai itself isn't anything special but 6kms south you have Suan Luang beach where there are a couple of beach bars, Why Not & Montris, and the former does decent food along with Ploy's and the ever popular Cuisine. Stop off if passing through you might enjoy. It's 90 minutes south of Hua Hin and the train stops at both Yai & Noi and motorbike taxis meet arrivals at Yai not sure about Noi.

Bang Saphan Noi is mighty quite compared to Suan Luang.
