Insurance renewal for my BYD Atto 3 Extended - First time!

Featured Replies

So I bought a BYD Atto 3 (think first black ones made or assembled in Thailand) last January. Just got a notice that end of January the insurance I had from the dealership expires.

It's with LMG and the pdf in Thai quotes 28 thousand baht for the year. I am happy to pay this if this is fair and covers everything. I asked Chatgpt and it translated the document and said all was good but that I should ask about a few things just to be safe:
Things Worth Double-Checking (Optional)

If you want to be extra careful, you could ask LMG:

EV battery coverage – included? (usually yes, but good to confirm)

Flood coverage – normally included in Type 1, but worth confirming

Roadside assistance / towing limits

Authorized BYD repair centers (important for EVs)

Soooo is this fair and should I just pay it or do I need to check elsewhere?

Thank you! We are a family of 4 - 2 young kids and I want to be covered fully just an FYI.

Always checked the capital amount as that is the amount the insurance company will pay you in the event where any repair costs exceeded normally 70-75% of the capital amount

Capital amount does vary between insurance companies

typically lower insurance premiums = lower capital amount but when researching at Insurance renewal time it worth checking some online brokers might be lower that one of the insurance companies that were offerered by the brand but once again capital amount might be lower

What about battery coverage? My colleague says his insurance specifies that his battery is 100% covered whereas in mine it doesn't specify....

Best to check with your existing insurance company

Some insurance companies have an additional insurance premium to keep the battery coverage topped up to 100% from year 2 onwards

As you can see from the link here battery coverage is reduced by 10% from year 2 onwards for each year on ownership
