If you are up to something very dark and haven't seen it, I suggest The Fall (TV Series 2013–2016) - IMDb 8.1/10.

I just finished watching a delightful 6 part (30 mins per episode) series on BBC iPlayer called Small Prophets. It's quite quirky but a very gentle watch.

Great cast including Mackenzie Crook (The Office, Detectorists) who wrote and directed the series, Michael Palin, Paul Kaye and Pearce Quigley in the main role.

Difficult to describe so the following should give some idea:

Small Prophets is a magical, bittersweet British sitcom created by and starring Mackenzie Crook. Set in a suburban Manchester cul-de-sac, it follows a grieving DIY-store worker who learns to grow "homunculi" (tiny, jar-dwelling alchemical spirits that foretell the future) to find out what happened to his missing partner.

There will be a final, 8 part second series sometime in the future following both good reviews and good viewing figures.

Homefront, The Great Escape, House of Wax, A Working man, Shelter, The Wild Bunch, Conjuring, Conjuring 2, The Intouchables.

I gave up on that about halfway through as it did nothing for me!!

I did download and watch a movie called, "Ex- Machina" which starred the lovely Alicia Vikander and Oscar Isaac with Domhnall Gleeson and was very intersting with a couple of twists at the end.

Nemesis

Crime---8 episodes all out today (so I have no opinion on it.....

LA crime drama pits master thief Coltrane Wilder against detective Isaiah Stiles, challenging heist genre norms while examining what drives, sustains, and destroys people.

Tried to watch the movie "Project Hail Mary" but gave up on it about half way through as couldn't decide if it was a serious movie or a comedy or just nonsense.

Just finished Project Hail Mary and this was the first movie in literally years that I've watched all the way through at one sitting, despite the long running time. I found it brilliant but with one big caveat: You really need to read the book before you watch it. The movie's biggest flaw, It forsakes a linear narrative and throws you into the middle of the action without any explanation and then use flashbacks to flesh out the story. I suspct they did this because the back story would have taken a long time to unfold and they were worried about the attention span of modern audiences. But if you haven't read the book, you might find this confusing.

It was also a little smaltzy in the end, I don't think the run time is too long necessarily but the pacing could have been better.

In any case, read the book, then watch the movie. that's my recommendation.

Through unlikely bonds formed during night shifts at a local aquarium, Tova, an elderly widow, learns of a life-changing discovery that may bring her joy and wonder once again.

Season 5 has started.

New 3 part series.

The first 2 episodes were excellent.

This gripping documentary will delve into the shocking events surrounding the poisoning of Sergei Skripal, a former Russian spy, in Salisbury, England, back in 2018.

The incident sent shockwaves through the nation and raised serious questions about international relations.

For those folk who may be interested in English football, there is an interesting documentary on BBC iPlayer, called, "England, the 2006 Golden Generation" which is about the 2006 World Cup event in which England were supposed to do very well and bring the World Cup "home", or so the supporters said.

Despite having probably one of the best teams ever (apart from the 1966 team) this team, led by Sven Goran Eriksson seemed strangely disoriented/disconnected and couldn't seem to get it together on the field, and this wasn't helped by the notorious WAGS (Wives and Girlfriends) who were gallivanting around at the time, taking up a lot of space in the newspapers. So the English football team was a disappointment – – enough said.

PS. This wasn't helped by Wayne Rooney getting a red card and being sent off for simply pushing a player who pushed him.

I also managed to watch a great movie called, "The Theory of Everything" starring the wonderful Eddie Redmayne in this role as Stephen Hawking, as well as Felicity Jones as his first wife and I don't remember seeing it before, so it was a surprise for me, however the acting was fantastic, especially from Eddie Redmayne, and towards the end it was a bit of a tearjerker.

First 2 ep of Dutton ranch out now. Firat 2 ep Meh. Not sure its a good idea to base a show around the rip and Beth.

Ill gice it a chance.

As soon as Detectorists was mentioned, that was it for me. I thought that series was so boring and silly. But everyone to their own choice.

But gave Small Prophets a chance and was pleasantly entertained. Thanks for the hint.

I've tried to find a movie called 'Normal' with Bob Odenkirk. IDMB says it came out 2025 but no sign of it on TPB. I always assume I'm doing something wrong.

It premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2025 but was released in US theatres in 2026.

The only ones I can find are CAM versions with what looks like Ukraine dubbing.

We watched Apex at the weekend, was pretty good - Taron Egerton seems to have found a nice little niche, not a bad Aussie accent for a welshman, not that I would know, but he doesnt sound welsh.

A new series of Fauda appears tomorrow, im not sure if its on a streaming platform or Israeli TV?
