Does "Might Make Right?"

Does "Might Make Right?" 3 members have voted

  1. 1. Does "Might Make Right?" Do the strongest nations on Earth have the right to "control" weaker nations in their sphere of influence. Why? Why not?

    • Yes - Stronger nations have the legal right to control weaker nations including overthrowing their governments, kidnapping their leaders, and taking their resources. All they need to do is make domestic laws granting themselve the "Right of Might!"

    • Yes - but ONLY THE United State has the moral obligation to control weaker nations including overthrowing their governments, kidnapping their leaders, and taking their resources...for the greater good, of course! If any other country other than the United States does it, then they are labelled "Aggressor Nations Which Must Be Overthrown!"

    • No - no nation has the legal right to control weaker nations including overthrowing their governments, kidnapping their leaders, and taking their resources.

    • Yes and No - but only by UN majority vote can stronger countries be tasked with controlling weaker countries including including overthrowing their governments, kidnapping their leaders, and taking their resources...for the greater good, of course!

    • Maybe - if the "weaker country" has nuclear weapons than all bets are off the table. The stronger country controls the weaker country at their own peril.

    • Yes - but first the "strong" country must fabricate the wildest, crazy, whacko excuses needed to control weaker nations including overthrowing their governments, kidnapping their leaders, and taking their resources. The crazier the criminal allegation, the better.

It seems that the United States and other "stronger countries" feel they have the right and the obligation to control the "weaker countries" within their sphere of influence.

Does "Might Make Right?" Does "The Ends Justify The Means?"

I'm not voting here. I just want to say kudos for that last option. Well done!

Well, your comments are always welcome.

Personal morals confused with justifications. Rationalizing right versus wrong without including the empirical historical context really offers no valid value, especially when it’s sourced from institutional structures whose objective is to form thought rather than fact.

Yes, of course.

Would you include Russia among those Nations?

It's been done for years. The Mongols, the Romans, the British. to name some. But with the advent of nuclear weapons, the deterrent is now much stronger. That's why the likes of North Korea, Isreal and Iran want them. They can protect the dictator or a country's natural resources from being plundered. North Korea seems pretty safe from attack nowadays.

If Ukraine had kept its nuclear weapons, I doubt there would have been an invasion.

Include Russia as the "Stronger" nation which does the overthrowing, or the "Weaker" nation which is a target for being overthrown. I already know your neo-con, war-hawk opinion by the way.

First of all, why is the reason for overthrowing their government, and sometimes those who are trying or do, have been heavily involved in their businesses for a long time because of special interests.

Can't deny USA have had a finger in play destablishing south American countries who didn't wanted to play with them.

Same goes for any Empire who continuously outgrowing their needs for more resources.

Natural human behavior and it will not change anytime in human history!

Which is why it will be no surprise if Iran comes up with a nuclear deterrent. Unless a country has nukes, it's fair game for "stronger" nations. Maybe.

It's called Neo-Colonialism. And Trump just made Rubio The Viceroy of Venezuela. I'm thinking Rubio will become The Viceroy of Cuba and The Caribbean shortly.

Deflecting much? Have you read any of my current posts about the American assault on Venezuela? Any? Are they consistent with the neocon point of view?

I call out this kind of brutality and bullying whether it comes from the USA, Russia, or China. I'm an equal opportunity condemer. Unlike you, my principles are consistent. I'm not one to use Orwellian language like "Special Military Operation" to describe Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
