An 80-year-old woman fled her burning home in Samut Sakhon on January 4, while attempting to rescue her nine dogs. The fire commenced around 9:30 PM in the Bang Ya Phraek subdistrict, prompting a response from local firefighters aided by nearby water trucks. She faced difficulties as some dogs resisted escape efforts, complicating the rescue.

The blaze reportedly began in waste and plastic materials the woman collected for resale. A glow near an outdated refrigerator has led her to suspect an electrical short circuit as the probable cause. Firefighters took over an hour to control the flames, which resulted in severe damage to the house, destroying much of the structure and belongings.

No injuries have been reported, and authorities are still investigating the fire's cause. In a similar event last December, Rong Kluea Market in Aranyaprathet district experienced a substantial fire. The incident involved the destruction of multiple shops, with suspicions also pointing to an electrical short circuit.

Though authorities confirmed that nearby buildings were unscathed, 10 to 15 shops were completely destroyed. Both incidents underline concerns about electrical safety and fire prevention in the region, reported The Thaiger.

Key Takeaways
