I kid you not, I have never seen anyone stop at these Stop Signs in almost 10 years, in fact, most speed through them. Like I said earlier, they are like ignorant and obstinate little children.

I remember one thai friend telling me when i start to drive here "Remember, there is on rule here on the road "I do what I want and i dont care about anybody ! I want to stop in front of 7/11 and obstruct, so what ? I want to speed up in town, so what ? Helmet when i drive a bike ? What the point ? Why should I need a driving licence , I can drive !"

There's a stop sign so you're suppose to be stopping anyway. No reason there can't be a speed bump by the stop sign on that road. No speed bump, of course, on the main road that does not have a stop sign.

May as well of put a pedestrian crossing. Stop sign and waste of paint crossing use less with these Thai drivers.

By the way can anyone tell me what is the speed limit on that road approaching the stop sign?

The reason I ask is I assume from the CCTV footage plus this driver was supposedly looking at his GPS, (bullsh.t) , was at least doing 120km's per hr. Maybe more?

My wife never understands why I'm so cautious at unmarked intersections like that. I ALWAYS give way to traffic on what is the primary road. The road that motorcycle was on was a cross-over road or secondary road.

No worth in arguing who had the right-of-way when you drive in front of an SUV traveling at about 90 kph on your motorcycle. I believe that in Thailand there are two rules applying to right-of-way here- not that it matters - it doesn't. First, the traffic on the Left has right-of-way over other traffic, therefore the the SUV has right-of-way. Second, primary roads have right-of-way over secondary roads, like that cross-over. A third rule, which is suicidal imho, is that whatever vehicle makes it to the intersection first has the right-of-way, so many would argue that the motorcycle had right-of-way. The only problem being, I doubt if the SUV could have stopped to avoid the collision. "I motorcycle, I in intersection first, I win!!! BAM 🪦

Here my rule regarding right-of-way in Thailand: If the intersection could get you killed or injured, then yield the right-of-way to the most aggressive or the most most clueless drivers - which pretty much most Thai drivers. I just protect myself and my vehicle.

And now I take that all back. The SUV had a stop sign. However, that doesn't breath life back into the dead. When you enter an intersection - LOOK and YIELD to IDIOTS - it can save your life.

Lord, that is just stupid road engineering. Put a stop sign on the primary road and yield to a secondary road. I wonder how many people get creamed in that intersection annually?

Exactly. Which is why the only way to drive here is to drive defensively. Not looking when entering an intersection is suicidal.

Clearly SUV speeding and runs stop line, but the sheer complacency of MC riders here is astounding, I would never sail thru an intersection like that. And being local and a known black spot...sad for the kid

Watch the video again, you can hear the SUV screaming through the intersection, the motorcycle was at a reasonable speed (sailing thru?), I doubt the MC could have ever saw the SUV, let alone react to it. That SUV is driving like a maniac, at what looks like 100kph+ through a stop sign and stop line, no excuses.

But then again, which Thai driver ever pays attention to the road ahead or to the side?
