A 31-year-old French man was left critically injured after falling from the fifth floor of a hotel in the Na Kluea area, in the early hours of 14 January 2026. Rescue workers said the man sustained severe head and leg injuries with heavy bleeding and was rushed to hospital for emergency treatment.

The incident was reported at about 00.30, when the Sawang Boriboon Rescue Foundation in Pattaya received an alert that a foreign national had fallen from a height at a hotel in Na Kluea. On arrival, rescuers found the man lying on the ground, conscious and calling for help, with a strong smell of alcohol.

Initial checks indicated that the man had fallen from the fifth floor of the hotel, striking an awning. Rescue personnel provided first aid at the scene before urgently transporting him to hospital due to the seriousness of his injuries.

According to witnesses at the hotel, a loud noise similar to a heavy object hitting the ground was heard moments before the injured man was discovered. Concerned guests and staff then went to investigate and found him lying motionless on the ground level.

Hotel staff told police that the French national had been staying alone at the property for approximately six days prior to the incident. They stated that before the fall, he had been drinking alcohol in his room, though no other individuals were reported to be with him at the time.

Police officers attended the scene to gather evidence and speak with witnesses and hotel personnel. At this stage, authorities have not confirmed the exact circumstances leading to the fall and are continuing their investigation to determine the cause.

The case has highlighted ongoing concerns about alcohol-related incidents involving tourists in popular destinations. Emergency responders reiterated the importance of safety awareness in accommodation buildings, particularly in multi-storey hotels, while investigations continue.

Apart from a couple of floors more, exactly the same scenario as a fall in Soi Buakhao!

There's definitely something going on with these Gallic chaps.

So, does that mean we can rule out low railings, and just blame abusive amounts of alcohol as a contribution to many foreigners falling out of hotels in Thailand. These chaps really need to learn to hold their liquor. 31 years of age, and without a cluse regarding his limits.

That's one lucky fellow.

And once again, not lucky if left a crippled invalid in constant physical pain and emotional agony. On the other hand, he may recover after years of physiotherapy and the support of loved ones who will put their lives aside to care for him................. not very likely if he was drinking alone in Pattaya and only 31.

Seems alcohol and heights don't mix well
