A Nigerian national, Ukoma Jefta Nuzbech, was apprehended on Koh Pha Ngan, Surat Thani, on January 14, after evading court from an earlier drug-related arrest. Authorities intervened after receiving a tip-off about his whereabouts. Nuzbech had avoided legal proceedings following his arrest last March for delivering 25.71 grammes of cocaine to an undercover officer.

Initially released on bail, Nuzbech failed to attend mandated court sessions and went underground, allegedly selling drugs between Koh Samui and Koh Pha Ngan. Acting on new intelligence, local law enforcement set up a roadblock and detained him in a white Mitsubishi Mirage. Nuzbech resisted arrest, prompting officers to forcibly enter the vehicle.

Upon searching the car, police discovered 1.18 grammes of cocaine, 50,280 baht, and a mobile phone. The phone contained drug transaction messages, potentially linking him to a 29-year-old Thai woman. He allegedly used a QR code connected to her bank account to facilitate transactions.

Nuzbech now faces charges for possession with intent to sell, a serious offence in Thailand. The police are further investigating to uncover potential accomplices and connections to a broader drug network.

Looking ahead, Nuzbech could be sentenced to up to 10 years in prison and fined up to 1 million baht if convicted. Authorities continue to assess the scope of the drug operation and identify any additional offenders involved, reported The Thaiger.

Key Takeaways

  • A Nigerian drug dealer was arrested on Koh Pha Ngan after evading court.

  • Police found cocaine and cash in his vehicle, linking him to drug sales.

  • An investigation is ongoing to unearth further associates in the network.

This island again and again.. never ending story.

Drugs are a national problem, found in every province.

Young and old alike driven to drugs to make money due to the governments 2-3 decades of inability to grow a real economy.

Drug dealing has a possible death sentence, why was even given bail? If he was caught bang to rights don't have to be a rocket scientist to guess he wasn't going to show up at court

Few missing brain cell on both sides, him for getting bail and remaining in thailand

Courts for giving a foreigner bail for drug supply

True but he wasn't thai. Give him a harsh sentence followed by deportation with permanent blacklist once finished.

Jeeze, that Mitsubishi sure could take a beating. I think I'll get one.

I guess my Nigerian Princes will be busy for awhile. Glad I did not respond to his email requesting bank account information to transfer all the inheritance money he was recently awarded.

Good windows on that car 😂

The car has less value at police auction if the windows are broken

Car windows are very strong, not like in the movies.
