Security forces have seized a haul of methamphetamine and arrested two suspected drug traffickers during an operation in Sakon Nakhon city, dealing a significant blow to a regional narcotics network. About 300 kilogrammes of crystal methamphetamine, known locally as ice, were intercepted before being distributed further inland. The arrests underline intensified enforcement along drug trafficking routes from the north-east border.

The operation took place on 17 January 2026 at around 9.10pm in the parking area of the Bypass Market in Dong Mafai subdistrict, Mueang Sakon Nakhon district. Officers detained two men and confiscated six sacks containing the drugs, along with two vehicles and two mobile phones. The drugs are classified as Category 1 narcotics under Thai law.

Those arrested were later identified as Mr Rungsak, aged 34, from Bueng Kan province, and Mr Kritphat, aged 48, from Nakhon Phanom province. Both suspects were taken into custody for further legal proceedings. The seized drugs were reported to have a combined weight of approximately 300 kilogrammes.

Authorities said the arrests followed intelligence reports from the Internal Security Operations Command indicating movements by a drug trafficking network. The group was believed to be transporting narcotics from the border district of That Phanom in Nakhon Phanom province into inner regions. Surveillance teams from multiple agencies tracked the suspects before moving in to intercept them.

The joint operation involved the Second Army Region, the Northeast Border Drug Suppression Command Unit 24, Border Patrol Police Region 2, the Surasak Montri Task Force, and other related agencies. Officials stated that close coordination and intelligence sharing were key to the successful seizure. The suspects and evidence were initially taken to Border Patrol Police Region 2 for formal arrest records.

They were subsequently handed over to investigators at Dong Mafai Police Station to face charges under Thai law. Security sources described the operation as part of ongoing efforts to disrupt drug supply chains from border areas. The case reflects continued pressure on trafficking networks operating in the north-east.

Khoasod reported that authorities are expected to expand the investigation to identify additional members of the network. Further arrests may follow as officers trace financial flows and logistics linked to the seized shipment. Officials reiterated that border surveillance and inland interdiction efforts will remain in place.

Wow. After mixing with Ajax powder or whatever and packaging, how many "doses" is that?

Is "wholesale" fentanyl cheaper than Ajax these days?
