Non-O(Marriage), Vientiane. Visa processing estimate.

Featured Replies

My current Non-O(Marriage) stamp expires on February 27th, 2026. It is Friday.
So I am planning to arrive to Vientiane on February 24th in the evening (BKK-VTE flight) , then make my visa application online and pay for it on February 25th in the morning. I expect to receive my visa during the next 2 days and return home before Saturday.

Is this a good plan or should I buy a plane ticket for an earlier date to get my visa before the weekend?
I would like to make a decision taking into account the current average visa processing times in Vientiane for Non-O(Marriage).

It is a 2 to 3 business day process once you pay at the Consulate in cash for the visa after you have applied and get the QR code that you print out so you can get in the gate.

Remember they require a 3-month bank statement although the 400k only needs to be in the bank when you apply

Out of interest why are you doing back to back Non O marriage visa vs annual extension from the Non O permit stamp.

Annual extension requires the 400k to be seasoned for 2 months. I can't do this at the moment. I also plan to use these 400k to pay taxes in Thailand on my return home. In case of annual extension, the notorious bank will freeze the money for several months.

Indeed and a very minimal financial requirement especially compared to extension retirement.

You have a current Non O status.

You should open a bank account with eg Kasikorn to avoid nonsense from BBL moving forward.

You can then use that account for future Non O + extension.

I think you might be leaving a bit of a tight schedule, arriving on Tuesday night (24th), paying on Wednesday morning (25th) and expecting to be all done on the Friday ... personal opinion. Guess it depends on how flexible your schedule/flights are and if you want to be potentially stuck there over a whole weekend.

Here is a recent thread from a forum member obtaining a NON-O there

Thanks everyone for your help. I'll adjust my travel date so I can get my visa before the weekend.
